1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Pawfly Automatic Fish Feeder, Model Pawfly-2860. This professional pond fish feeder is designed to automatically dispense food at scheduled intervals, ensuring your fish are fed consistently, even when you are away. It features a large 10 L capacity, moisture-proof design, and flexible feeding options to accommodate various fish and feeding requirements.

This manual provides detailed instructions for setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting to help you get the most out of your new automatic fish feeder.

2. Safety Information

  • Read all instructions carefully before use.
  • Keep the device away from children and pets to prevent accidental damage or injury.
  • Ensure the feeder is securely installed to prevent it from falling into the water.
  • Do not immerse the main unit in water. The feeder is weatherproof, but not submersible.
  • Use only the specified 1.5 V AA batteries (not included). Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.
  • Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
  • Do not use live, wet, or irregular food, as this can clog the dispenser.
  • Always ensure the food container lid is securely fastened to prevent wildlife tampering and moisture intrusion.

3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Unpacking and Components

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure you have the main feeder unit, food container, lid, desiccant bag, food guide weather cover, food stirrer, fixation feet, screws, and portion control plugs.

3.2 Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery case cover located at the bottom of the feeder.
  2. Insert four 1.5 V AA batteries (not included) according to the polarity markings.
  3. Close the battery case cover securely. The feeder features a memory retention system to preserve settings during battery replacement.

3.3 Food Container Assembly and Filling

  1. Remove the lid from the food container.
  2. Insert the desiccant bag into its designated rack inside the lid to help keep food dry and fresh.
  3. Fill the food container with suitable dry fish food (pellets, sticks, corn niblets, etc.) up to 12 mm in size. NOTE: Not suitable for live, wet, or irregular food.
  4. Securely reattach the lid to the food container, ensuring the buckle-lock is engaged to prevent wildlife tampering.
  5. Attach the filled food container to the main feeder unit.

3.4 Mounting Methods

The feeder offers two primary installation methods:

  1. Flat Surface Placement: Place the feeder stably on any flat surface near your pond or aquarium. The bottom features 4 anti-slip sponge pads for stability.
  2. Screw-Secured Installation: For added security, especially outdoors, you can secure the feeder to the ground or wood using the attached fixation feet and screws.

4. Operating Instructions

The Pawfly Automatic Fish Feeder features a clear LCD display for easy programming of feeding schedules and portions.

4.1 Clock Time Calibration

  1. Press "MODE" to display the "Now" part.
  2. Press "SET" for 3 seconds.
  3. Press "+" or "-" to correct the hour.
  4. Press "SET" again.
  5. Press "+" or "-" to correct the minute.
  6. Press "SET" again to finish setting.

4.2 Portion Setting

Precise portion control starts at 30g per serving. The 5 control plugs can reduce it by 5g each.

  1. Press "MODE" to display the "Vol" part.
  2. Press "SET" for 3 seconds.
  3. Press "+" or "-" to adjust it (up to 99).
  4. Press "SET" again to finish setting.

4.3 Auto-Feeding Time Setting

The feeder can dispense food up to 6 times a day and can release multiple portions each time.

  1. Press "MODE" to display the "Timing" part.
  2. Press "SET" for 3 seconds.
  3. Press "+" or "-" to adjust the hour.
  4. Press "SET" again.
  5. Press "+" or "-" to adjust the minute.
  6. Press "SET" again to set the 2nd feeding. (NOTE: Press "MODE" to finish setting if you don't need the 2nd feeding.)

4.4 Feeding Interval Setting

Set intervals for feeding up to 9 days.

  1. Press "MODE" to display the "Int." part.
  2. Press "SET" for 3 seconds.
  3. Press "+" or "-" to adjust it (up to 9 days).
  4. Press "SET" again to finish setting.

4.5 Manual Feeding Setting

  • 1 Feeding: Press "+" for 3 seconds.
  • Continuous Feeding: Press "MODE" and "+" for 3 seconds. To stop it, press "-".

4.6 Default Feeding Schedule Setting (9 Selectable Modes)

  1. Press "MODE", "SET", and "+" for 3 seconds.
  2. Press "+" repeatedly to choose from 9 modes.
  3. Press "SET" again to confirm choice.
  4. "h" can be seen beside the clock time.

NOTE: Choose "OFF", and the above setting will be canceled.

5.1 Weatherproof Design and Moisture Prevention

The feeder is constructed from reliable ABS and PC materials to resist long-term sun and water exposure. The retractable food dispensing port, desiccant bag, and protective weather cover work together to prevent moisture intrusion and keep food fresh.

The food container and stirrer are detachable for easy cleaning. Regularly clean these parts to prevent food buildup and ensure proper operation.

  • Remove the food container from the main unit.
  • Disassemble the lid and food stirrer.
  • Wash all removable parts with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and ensure they are completely dry before reassembly.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the main electronic unit in water.
