1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Explore Scientific RPW3001 Projection Clock. This device combines a radio-controlled clock with weather forecasting, a barometer, and internal/external temperature monitoring capabilities. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your new projection clock.
2. Key Features
- Backlit Display: Easy viewing of information even in the dark, without needing to turn on a light, ensuring optimal visibility in any situation.
- Multi-environment Monitoring: Ability to connect up to 3 external sensors to detect temperature in multiple environments (indoor or outdoor), allowing complete and precise control.
- Projection Function: Projects time and weather icons onto a wall or ceiling.
- Radio-Controlled Time: Automatic time synchronization for accuracy.
- Barometer: Displays atmospheric pressure trends for weather forecasting.
- Temperature Display: Internal temperature range from -5 °C to 50 °C. External temperature range from -20 °C to 60 °C.
3. Package Contents
Please check the package for the following items:
- Explore Scientific RPW3001 Projection Clock Unit
- Power Adapter
- 4 x AAA Batteries
- Instruction Manual (this document)
- Note: External sensors are sold separately unless specified on the product packaging.
4. Setup
4.1 Powering the Device
- Insert the 4 AAA batteries into the battery compartment, observing the correct polarity.
- Connect the power adapter to the DC input port on the clock and then plug it into a standard wall outlet. The display will light up.
4.2 Initial Setup and Radio Control Synchronization
Upon first power-up, the clock will automatically attempt to synchronize with the radio-controlled time signal. This process may take several minutes. Ensure the clock is placed away from electronic interference for best reception.
- If synchronization is successful, the time and date will be set automatically.
- If synchronization fails, you may need to manually set the time and date (refer to Section 5.1).
4.3 Pairing External Sensors (Optional)
The RPW3001 can connect with up to three external sensors (sold separately) for multi-environment temperature monitoring.
- Ensure the external sensor(s) have batteries installed.
- Place the sensor(s) within range of the main unit.
- Follow the instructions provided with your external sensor(s) to initiate pairing. The main unit will display the external temperature once successfully paired.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Manual Time and Date Setting
If radio control synchronization is not desired or fails, you can manually set the time and date:
- Press and hold the 'SET' button (location may vary, refer to device diagram) for 3 seconds to enter time setting mode.
- Use the '+' or '-' buttons to adjust the flashing value (e.g., hour, minute, year, month, day).
- Press 'SET' again to confirm the setting and move to the next value.
- Exit setting mode by pressing 'SET' after the last value or by waiting 15 seconds for automatic exit.
5.2 Display Functions
The main display shows various information:
- Time: Current time in 12-hour or 24-hour format.
- Date: Month and day.
- Internal Temperature: Current temperature of the room where the clock is located.
- External Temperature: Temperature from paired external sensors (if applicable).
- Weather Forecast: Icons indicating predicted weather conditions (e.g., sunny, cloudy, rainy).
- Barometric Trend: Arrow indicators showing rising, stable, or falling atmospheric pressure.

5.3 Projection Feature
The projection unit can display the time and weather icons onto a surface.
- Activate Projection: Press the 'PROJECTION' button (or similar, refer to device diagram) to turn the projection on/off.
- Adjust Angle: Rotate the projection lens to adjust the angle of the projected image.
- Focus: Use the focus wheel on the projection unit to sharpen the image.
- Important Note: The projection function may not activate if the radio control synchronization is actively searching for a signal. Wait for synchronization to complete or disable it temporarily if you wish to use the projection.
5.4 Alarm Setting
To set an alarm:
- Press the 'ALARM' button to view the current alarm time.
- Press and hold 'ALARM' for 3 seconds to enter alarm setting mode.
- Use the '+' or '-' buttons to adjust the hour and minute.
- Press 'ALARM' to confirm each setting.
- Press 'ALARM' again to activate/deactivate the alarm. An alarm icon will appear on the display when active.
5.5 Snooze Function
When the alarm sounds, press the 'SNOOZE/LIGHT' button to temporarily silence the alarm. The alarm will sound again after approximately 5-10 minutes (duration may vary by model).
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Wipe the clock's surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the display or casing.
6.2 Battery Replacement
When the display dims or functions become erratic, replace the AAA batteries. Ensure the power adapter is connected during battery replacement to avoid loss of settings.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Display is blank or dim. | Low batteries or power adapter not connected. | Replace batteries or ensure power adapter is securely connected. |
| Time is incorrect. | Radio control signal interference or failed synchronization. | Relocate the clock away from electronic devices. Manually set the time if necessary. |
| External temperature not displayed. | Sensor not paired or out of range; sensor batteries low. | Ensure sensor is within range and has fresh batteries. Re-pair the sensor if needed. |
| Projection is not active. | Radio control synchronization in progress. | Wait for radio control synchronization to complete or disable it temporarily. |
| Projection is blurry. | Focus not adjusted. | Adjust the focus wheel on the projection unit. |
