3. Product Overview

Familiarize yourself with the components of your LUNYEE DTM-T50 device:

  1. Auto-Lock Key: Engages or disengages the tape measure lock.
  2. Digital Display: OLED screen for displaying measurements, modes, and settings.
  3. Laser Receiver: Detects the reflected laser beam for distance calculation.
  4. Laser Emitter: Emits the laser beam for distance measurement.
  5. USB Charging Port: Type-C port for recharging the internal battery.
  6. Tapeline: The physical tape measure component.
  7. Switch Key for Function (FUNC): Cycles through various measurement functions (Area, Volume, Pythagorean, etc.).
  8. Voice/Add&Minus Key: Activates voice prompts or performs addition/subtraction calculations.
  9. Measure Key (MEAS): Initiates a laser measurement.
  10. Turn Off/Clear Key (CLEAR): Powers off the device or clears current measurements/settings.
  11. Switch Key for Datum/Unit: Changes the measurement reference point (front/rear) or switches measurement units (M/in/Ft/ft+in).

4. Safety Information

WARNING: This product contains a Class II laser. Do not stare directly into the laser beam. Avoid direct eye exposure. Laser radiation can cause eye injury.

  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the device.
  • Keep the device out of reach of children.
  • Use the device only for its intended purpose as described in this manual.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Ensure the laser emitter and receiver lenses are clean for accurate measurements.

5. Setup

5.1 Charging the Device

The LUNYEE DTM-T50 features a built-in rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. Before first use, or when the battery indicator on the OLED display shows low power, charge the device using the provided Type-C USB cable.

  1. Connect the Type-C end of the charging cable to the USB Charging Port on the device.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
  3. The OLED display will indicate charging status. A full charge supports up to 3000 measurements.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press the MEAS key briefly.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the CLEAR key for a few seconds. The device will also automatically shut down if no operation occurs within 30 seconds to conserve power.

6.2 Switching Measurement Units and Datum

Press the Switch Key for Datum/Unit to cycle through available measurement units: meters (M), inches (in), feet (Ft), and feet+inches (ft+in). This key also allows you to switch the measurement reference point between the front and rear of the device for laser measurements.

6.3 Using the Tape Measure

The integrated 16-foot tape measure operates like a standard retractable tape. Pull the tapeline out to the desired length. The Auto-Lock Key can be used to secure the tape in position. The OLED display will show the tape measure reading digitally.

6.4 Using the Laser Distance Meter

The laser distance meter provides precise measurements up to 393 feet with an accuracy of ±1/12 inch.

6.4.1 Single Distance Measurement

  1. Point the laser emitter towards the target surface.
  2. Press the MEAS key once. The laser will activate.
  3. Press the MEAS key again to take the measurement. The result will appear on the OLED display.

6.4.2 Continuous Measurement

This mode allows for real-time distance tracking as you move the device.

  1. Press the FUNC key until the continuous measurement icon appears on the display.
  2. Press the MEAS key to start continuous measurement. The display will update in real-time.
  3. Press the MEAS key again to stop.

6.4.3 Area, Volume, and Pythagorean Measurements

The device supports various calculation modes:

  1. Press the FUNC key repeatedly to select the desired calculation mode (Area, Volume, or Pythagorean). The corresponding icon will appear on the display.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to take the required individual measurements (e.g., length, width, height for volume).
  3. The device will automatically calculate and display the final result.

6.4.4 Addition and Subtraction

The Voice/Add&Minus Key can be used to add or subtract measurements. Refer to the on-screen prompts for specific steps in this mode.

6.5 Data Storage and Retrieval

The LUNYEE DTM-T50 can store up to 99 groups of measurement data. Use the FUNC key to navigate to the data storage mode and the Voice/Add&Minus Key to scroll through stored records.

6.6 OLED Display and Screen Rotation

The OLED screen provides clear visibility even in low-light conditions. The display can be rotated in two directions for easier reading, which is particularly useful when measuring from different angles.

6.7 Green Laser Calibration Line

The device features a green laser calibration line that provides a clear visual reference for alignment and marking, enhancing accuracy in certain applications.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

To clean the device, use a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the device in water. Keep the laser emitter and receiver lenses clean and free of dust or debris for optimal performance.

7.2 Storage

Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. When not in use for extended periods, ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) to prolong its lifespan.

7.3 IP54 Rating

The LUNYEE DTM-T50 has an IP54 rating, providing protection against solid particle ingress (dust protected) and water splashing from any direction. While it offers protection, it is not waterproof and should not be submerged.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your LUNYEE DTM-T50, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
