1. Introduction
The Viltrox DC-X3 is a compact 6-inch Full HD professional camera field monitor designed for filmmakers and videographers. It supports 4K 30p input and loop-out via both HDMI and SDI, offering essential video assist tools for precise control and real-time color grading. With a high brightness of up to 2000 nits and a responsive touchscreen interface, the DC-X3 ensures clear visibility and efficient workflow in various shooting environments, from studio to outdoor locations.

2. What's in the Box

3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
To power the monitor, insert the provided NP-F550 battery into the battery slot on the rear of the monitor. Ensure it clicks securely into place. The monitor also supports DC 12-18V input and USB-C 9V/3A input for continuous power.
3.2 Mounting the Monitor
Attach the included ball head to the 1/4" screw hole on the bottom or side of the monitor. Secure the ball head to your camera's hot shoe or a camera cage. Adjust the angle for optimal viewing.
3.3 Connecting Cables
Connect your camera to the monitor using the appropriate HDMI or SDI cable. The DC-X3 supports 4K 30p input and loop-out. For power, use the USB-C cable or a DC power adapter if not using battery power.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off
Press and hold the power button located on the top of the monitor to turn it on or off. The boot time is approximately 8 seconds, with an additional 3 seconds to display an HDMI or SDI video feed.
4.2 Touchscreen Interface
The DC-X3 features a responsive touchscreen. Menus can be accessed by double-tapping the screen or by pressing the red 'Back' button. Navigate through settings and features by tapping and swiping.

4.3 Custom Function Buttons (F1-F4)
The monitor includes four customizable function buttons (F1, F2, F3, F4) on the top. These can be assigned to frequently used features for quick access, enhancing shooting efficiency.

4.4 Professional Monitoring Tools
The DC-X3 integrates a suite of professional monitoring tools:
- Waveform & RGB Parade: Accurately monitor tonal colors and exposure.
- 3D LUT: Supports built-in diverse LUT selections and allows importing custom LUTs via USB for real-time color grading.
- Focus Peaking: Highlights in-focus areas with selectable colors (red, green, blue) for precise focusing.
- Histogram: Displays the distribution of tones in your image.
- Vectorscope: Visualizes color saturation and hue.
- False Color & Zebra Stripes: Aids in exposure control by indicating over/under-exposed areas.
- Monochrome: Displays the image in black and white.
- Image Flip / Gravity Sensor Flip: Automatically adjusts image orientation.
- Freeze Frame: Captures a still image for detailed analysis.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the monitor's body. For the screen, use a microfiber cloth specifically designed for electronics and a gentle screen cleaning solution if necessary. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
5.2 Battery Care
Store the NP-F550 battery in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently to prolong its lifespan. Charge the battery using the provided USB-C cable or a compatible charger.
5.3 Storage
When not in use, store the monitor in its hard-shell carrying case to protect it from dust, moisture, and physical damage. Ensure the sun hood is folded or removed for compact storage.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Viltrox DC-X3 monitor, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Signal Displayed: Ensure all HDMI/SDI cables are securely connected to both the camera and the monitor. Verify that the camera's output settings match the monitor's input capabilities (e.g., resolution, frame rate).
- Monitor Not Powering On: Check if the battery is correctly installed and charged, or if the DC/USB-C power source is properly connected and supplying power.
- Touchscreen Unresponsive: Try restarting the monitor. If the issue persists, ensure the screen is clean and free from debris.
- Overheating: The monitor features an efficient cooling system with a built-in fan. Ensure the cooling vents are not obstructed to allow proper airflow.
- Menu Appearing Randomly: This could indicate a software or hardware issue. Ensure the firmware is up to date. If the problem persists, contact customer support.
