Setup

1. Initial Charging

Your Eco-Drive watch is powered by light. Before initial use, or if the watch has stopped, ensure it is fully charged. Expose the watch dial to bright light (natural sunlight or fluorescent light) for several hours. A full charge can provide a power reserve of several months, even in darkness.

2. Setting the Time

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click position.
  2. Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Ensure AM/PM is correctly set, especially when setting the date.
  3. Push the crown back into the normal position to start the watch.

3. Setting the Date

  1. Pull the crown out to the first click position.
  2. Rotate the crown to set the correct date. Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM, as this may interfere with the automatic date change mechanism.
  3. Push the crown back into the normal position.

4. Bracelet Adjustment

For proper fit and comfort, the stainless steel bracelet may need adjustment. It is recommended to have this procedure performed by a qualified jeweler or a Citizen service center to prevent damage to the watch or bracelet.

Operating Your Watch

Basic Timekeeping

Once set, your watch will continuously display the current time (hours, minutes, seconds) and date. The Eco-Drive movement ensures accurate timekeeping as long as the watch receives sufficient light exposure.

Date Display

The date display automatically advances once every 24 hours. If the watch stops due to insufficient charge, the date may need to be reset once power is restored.

Water Resistance

This watch is rated for 100 meters (10 ATM) water resistance. This means it is suitable for swimming, showering, and snorkeling. However, it is not recommended for scuba diving. Ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Wipe the watch case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt and moisture. For stainless steel, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by drying. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

Storage

When storing your watch for extended periods, ensure it is exposed to light periodically to maintain its charge. Storing it in complete darkness for very long durations may cause it to stop, requiring a full recharge.

Power Reserve

After a full charge, your Eco-Drive watch can operate for several months in complete darkness. If the watch enters a low power state, the second hand may move in two-second intervals as a warning. Expose the watch to light immediately to recharge it.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch Not Running: If the watch has stopped, it likely needs charging. Expose the dial to bright light for several hours.
  • Date Not Changing Correctly: Check if the time is set correctly for AM/PM. The date changes around midnight. If the watch stopped and restarted, the date may need manual adjustment.
  • Inaccurate Time: Ensure the watch is fully charged. If the issue persists after adequate charging and time setting, contact Citizen customer support for assistance.
