2. Safety Instructions
Please read all safety instructions carefully before using the appliance. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
- Always plug the iron into a grounded electrical outlet.
- Do not leave the iron unattended while it is connected to the power supply or while it is hot.
- Keep the iron and its cord out of reach of children and pets when it is switched on or cooling down.
- Never immerse the iron, power cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
- Do not operate the iron with a damaged cord or plug, or if the iron has been dropped or damaged.
- Use the iron only for its intended purpose, which is ironing garments.
- Always ensure the water tank is filled with appropriate water (tap water or demineralized water as per instructions) before use.
- Exercise caution when handling hot surfaces and steam. Steam can cause burns.
3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking and Initial Preparation
- Carefully remove the iron from its packaging.
- Remove any protective films or stickers from the soleplate and body of the iron.
- Ensure all components are present and undamaged.
3.2 Filling the Water Tank
- Ensure the iron is unplugged from the power outlet.
- Remove the removable 1.4 L water tank from the base unit.
- Fill the water tank with tap water. For areas with hard water, it is recommended to use a mixture of 50% tap water and 50% demineralized water, or solely demineralized water. Do not use scented water or water from tumble dryers.
- Replace the water tank securely into the base unit.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On and Heating Up
- Place the steam generator iron on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.
- Press the On/Off button. The indicator light will illuminate, and the iron will begin to heat up.
- Wait approximately 2 minutes for the iron to reach its operating temperature. The indicator light will stop flashing or change color when ready.
4.2 Ironing with Steam
- Select the appropriate temperature setting on the iron's dial according to the fabric type.
- Press the steam trigger located under the handle to release continuous steam.
- For stubborn creases, press the steam boost button (if available) for an extra burst of steam.
- Move the iron smoothly over the fabric.

4.3 Vertical Steaming
The iron can be used for vertical steaming of hanging garments, curtains, or delicate fabrics.
- Hang the garment on a hanger.
- Hold the iron vertically, a few centimeters away from the fabric.
- Press the steam trigger to release steam and move the iron up and down the garment.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Descaling (Anti-Calc System)
The Tefal Express Essential features an anti-calc system to ensure long-lasting steam performance. Regular descaling is crucial.
- When the 'Calc' indicator light illuminates, it's time to descale.
- Ensure the iron is cool and unplugged.
- Place the base unit over a sink or basin.
- Press and hold the anti-calc button (refer to Image 4.3 for location) to release the scale collector.
- Rinse the scale collector under running water to remove any accumulated scale.
- Reinsert the scale collector firmly until it clicks into place.

5.2 Cleaning the Soleplate
To maintain optimal gliding performance, clean the Xpress Glide soleplate regularly.
- Ensure the iron is cool and unplugged.
- Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner if necessary.
- Do not use abrasive pads, metal scourers, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the soleplate.

5.3 Storage
- After use, unplug the iron and allow it to cool completely.
- Empty any remaining water from the tank.
- Store the iron in a safe, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
