3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Physical Installation

The PNI IP744 camera is designed for indoor use and can be mounted on a wall or placed on a flat surface using its adjustable stand.

  1. Choose a Location: Select an indoor location that provides the desired viewing angle and is within range of your Wi-Fi network.
  2. Mounting (Optional): If wall-mounting, use the provided mounting bracket and screws to secure the camera. Ensure the camera is stable and positioned correctly.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the USB cable to the camera's DC 5V port and the power adapter. Plug the adapter into a standard electrical outlet. The camera will power on automatically.

3.2 App Installation and Initial Connection

  1. Download the App: Search for "Tris Home" in your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android) and download the dedicated application.
  2. Create Account: Open the Tris Home app and follow the on-screen instructions to create a new user account or log in if you already have one.
  3. Add Device: In the app, select the option to add a new device. Follow the prompts to connect your PNI IP744 camera to your Wi-Fi network (2.4GHz only). This typically involves scanning a QR code on the camera or entering Wi-Fi credentials.
  4. MicroSD Card Installation (Optional): If you wish to use local storage, insert a MicroSD card (up to 128GB, not included) into the designated slot on the camera before powering it on or after initial setup.

4. Operating the Camera

4.1 Live View and Recording

Once connected, open the Tris Home app to access the live video feed from your camera. You can initiate manual recordings or capture screenshots directly from the app interface.

4.2 Motion Detection

The camera features intelligent motion detection. You can configure detection sensitivity and alert notifications within the Tris Home app. When motion is detected, the camera can send alerts to your smartphone and initiate recording.

4.3 Two-Way Audio

Use the two-way audio feature to communicate through the camera. Tap the microphone icon in the app to speak, and the camera's built-in speaker will broadcast your voice. The integrated microphone allows you to hear audio from the camera's environment.

4.4 Night Vision

The PNI IP744 is equipped with 2 IR LEDs and 2 white LEDs, providing clear color images at night. The camera automatically switches to night vision mode in low-light conditions, with a night vision range of up to 10 meters.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the camera lens and body with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Tris Home app for available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • MicroSD Card Management: Regularly back up important recordings from your MicroSD card. Format the card periodically to maintain performance.

6. Troubleshooting

Camera not connecting to Wi-Fi:
  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The camera does not support 5GHz networks.
  • Check that the Wi-Fi password is entered correctly in the app.
  • Move the camera closer to your Wi-Fi router to improve signal strength.
  • Reset the camera using the reset button (refer to Image 3.3 for location) and try the setup process again.
Poor image quality:
  • Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from dust or smudges.
  • Check your internet connection speed. A slow connection can affect streaming quality.
  • Verify that the camera is receiving adequate power.
Motion detection alerts not working:
  • Confirm that motion detection is enabled in the Tris Home app settings.
  • Adjust the motion detection sensitivity.
  • Check app notification settings on your smartphone to ensure alerts are not blocked.
MicroSD card not recording:
  • Ensure the MicroSD card is inserted correctly and is not full.
  • Format the MicroSD card through the app.
  • Verify that recording settings (e.g., continuous recording, motion-triggered recording) are configured correctly in the app.
