2. Key Features
- Waterproof TurboD Blade9 Coil: Equipped with a Double D coil for enhanced depth and performance in mineralized ground conditions. Includes a free coil cover.
- Waterproof Control Box: Constructed with TPE material and rugged ABS, providing excellent dust and water protection. Submersible up to 3 meters.
- Lightweight Design: Weighs only 1.1 kg (2.43 lbs), featuring an innovative T-style weight distribution for extended use with reduced fatigue.
- USB-C Rechargeable: Built-in rechargeable battery with a watertight USB-C port for convenient charging.
- Super 3D Telescopic Rod System: Allows for compact storage and easy transport by collapsing and rotating the coil flat.
- Tool-Free Adjustments: Armrest and control box can be adjusted without the need for additional tools.
3. Setup and Assembly
Follow these steps to assemble your Quest X5 IDmaxX Metal Detector:
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all parts are present: control box with handle, telescopic rod, Blade9 TurboD coil, coil bolt, and USB-C charging cable.
- Attach Coil to Rod: Align the coil bracket with the lower section of the telescopic rod. Insert the coil bolt through the holes and secure it with the provided nut. Ensure the coil is firmly attached but can still pivot.
- Connect Coil Cable: Wrap the coil cable securely around the lower and middle sections of the rod, leaving enough slack for coil movement. Plug the coil connector into the corresponding port on the control box. Ensure the connection is tight and waterproof.
- Assemble Rod Sections: Extend the telescopic rod to your desired length. The rod features a Super 3D Telescopic Rod System for easy adjustment. Secure each section by twisting the locking collars.
- Adjust Armrest: Position the armrest for comfortable operation. The armrest can be adjusted along the rod without tools.
- Charge Battery: Before first use, fully charge the internal Lithium Polymer battery using the supplied USB-C cable. Connect the cable to the USB-C port on the control box (ensure the watertight cover is open during charging and closed afterward) and to a standard USB power adapter (not included). The charging indicator on the display will show charging status.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off
To power on the device, press and hold the power button located on the control box. The LCD display will illuminate. To power off, press and hold the power button again until the display turns off.
4.2 Display Overview
The LCD display provides crucial information during operation, including target ID, depth indication, battery status, and current settings. Familiarize yourself with the icons and readings.
4.3 Modes and Settings
The Quest X5 IDmaxX offers various modes and adjustable settings to optimize detection for different environments and target types. Refer to the on-screen menu for navigation and adjustment of sensitivity, discrimination, volume, and ground balance.
- Sensitivity: Adjust to increase or decrease the detector's responsiveness to targets. Higher sensitivity can detect smaller or deeper targets but may also pick up more ground noise.
- Discrimination: Use to ignore unwanted metal types (e.g., iron) and focus on desired targets.
- Ground Balance: Essential for stable operation in mineralized soils. The detector may have an automatic ground balance feature or require manual adjustment.
4.4 Sweeping Technique
Hold the detector with the coil parallel to the ground, about 1-2 inches above the surface. Sweep the coil slowly from side to side in overlapping arcs. Maintain a consistent height and speed for best results. When a target is detected, the device will emit an audio tone and display target information.
5. Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning: After each use, especially in wet or sandy conditions, wipe down the coil and rod with a damp cloth. Ensure the control box is clean and dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Care: Recharge the battery regularly, even if not frequently used, to maintain its lifespan. Store the detector with a partial charge (around 50%) if storing for extended periods.
- Storage: Store the metal detector in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The telescopic rod allows for compact storage.
- Coil Protection: Always use the provided coil cover to protect the Blade9 TurboD coil from scratches and impacts.
- Waterproof Integrity: Before submerging the control box or coil, ensure all caps and covers (especially the USB-C port cover) are securely closed to maintain waterproof integrity.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Detector is not powering on. | Low or depleted battery. | Charge the battery fully using the USB-C cable. |
| Erratic signals or false positives. | High sensitivity setting; electromagnetic interference; highly mineralized ground. | Reduce sensitivity; move away from power lines or other electronics; perform ground balance. |
| No detection or weak signals. | Coil cable loose; low sensitivity; incorrect discrimination settings. | Check coil cable connection; increase sensitivity; adjust discrimination to include desired targets. |
| Display is blank or unresponsive. | Battery issue; software glitch. | Ensure battery is charged. Try a soft reset (power off and on). If problem persists, contact support. |
