Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

Read all instructions.
Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.
Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.

Setup

Unpacking and Placement:

Carefully remove both the toaster and kettle from their packaging.
Remove any protective film or stickers.
Place the toaster and kettle on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from flammable materials and water sources.
Ensure there is adequate ventilation around both appliances.

First Use:

Before using for the first time, it is recommended to clean both appliances.

Toaster:

Plug the toaster into a grounded electrical outlet.
Set the browning control to a medium setting.
Operate the toaster without bread for 2-3 cycles to burn off any manufacturing residues. A slight odor or smoke is normal during this process. Ensure good ventilation.
Unplug and allow to cool.

Kettle:

Fill the kettle with fresh water to the MAX fill line.
Boil the water, then discard it. Repeat this process 2-3 times to remove any manufacturing residues.
Rinse the interior of the kettle with clean water.

Operating Instructions

DT620 2-Slice Toaster:

Plug In: Ensure the toaster is plugged into a suitable electrical outlet.
Place Bread: Insert up to two slices of bread, bagels, or other items into the toasting slots. The self-centering guides will hold them in place.
Select Browning: Turn the browning control dial to your desired shade setting (1 for lightest, 7 for darkest).
Start Toasting: Press the high-lift lever down until it latches. The toasting cycle will begin, and the LED indicator will illuminate.
Cancel: To stop the toasting cycle at any time, press the 'CANCEL' button.
Special Functions:
- DEFROST: For toasting frozen bread. Insert frozen bread, press the lever down, then press the 'DEFROST' button. The LED will light up.
- BAGEL: For toasting bagels (toasts the cut side and warms the other). Insert bagel halves, press the lever down, then press the 'BAGEL' button. The LED will light up.
Remove Toast: Once the cycle is complete, the toast will automatically pop up. Use the high-lift lever to raise smaller items for easier removal.

K640N Electric Kettle:

Fill Kettle: Open the lid and fill the kettle with fresh water. Do not fill below the MIN mark or above the MAX mark.
Place on Base: Place the kettle securely on its power base.
Plug In: Ensure the power base is plugged into a suitable electrical outlet.
Boil Water: Press the On/Off switch down. The indicator light will illuminate, and the kettle will begin heating.
Automatic Shut-off: The kettle will automatically switch off once the water has boiled, and the indicator light will turn off.
Pour Water: Carefully lift the kettle from its base and pour the hot water. Always hold the handle firmly.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Always unplug both appliances from the power outlet and allow them to cool completely before cleaning.

DT620 2-Slice Toaster:

Crumb Tray: Slide out the crumb tray from the bottom of the toaster. Discard crumbs and wipe the tray clean with a damp cloth. Dry thoroughly before reinserting.
Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the toaster with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads.
Never immerse the toaster in water or any other liquid.

K640N Electric Kettle:

Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the kettle and power base with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
Interior/Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up inside the kettle. To descale:
1. Fill the kettle with a solution of one part white vinegar to two parts water.
2. Bring the solution to a boil and let it stand for at least 30 minutes, or longer for heavy buildup.
3. Empty the kettle and rinse thoroughly with fresh water several times.
4. For stubborn deposits, repeat the process or use a commercial descaling solution following its instructions.
Never immerse the kettle or its power base in water or any other liquid.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your appliances, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Toaster:

Toaster does not turn on:
- Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet.
- Check if the circuit breaker has tripped.
- Ensure the high-lift lever is fully pressed down and latched.
Bread is unevenly toasted:
- Ensure bread slices are centered in the slots.
- Adjust the browning control dial.
Smoke coming from toaster:
- Immediately press the 'CANCEL' button and unplug the toaster.
- Check for food lodged in the slots or a dirty crumb tray. Clean thoroughly.

Kettle:

Kettle does not heat up:
- Ensure the power base is securely plugged into a working outlet.
- Make sure the kettle is correctly seated on the power base.
- Check if the On/Off switch is fully pressed down.
Kettle switches off before boiling:
- This may indicate limescale buildup. Descale the kettle as per the 'Cleaning and Maintenance' section.
Water has an unusual taste:
- Ensure you have performed the 'First Use' cleaning steps.
- Regularly descale and rinse the kettle.
