- Unpack and Place the Base: Remove all packaging materials. Place the auto-empty base on a hard, level surface against a wall, ensuring there is at least 0.5 meters (1.6 feet) of clear space on both sides and 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) in front of the base. Connect the power cord to the base and plug it into a power outlet.
- Install the Side Brush: Snap the side brush onto its designated post on the underside of the robot until it clicks into place.
- Charge the Robot: Place the robot vacuum onto the charging contacts of the auto-empty base. Ensure the robot is properly aligned. The robot will automatically power on and begin charging. For first use, fully charge the robot.
- Download the Dreamehome App: Scan the QR code found under the robot's top cover or search for "Dreamehome" in your mobile app store (App Store for iOS, Google Play for Android). Download and install the app.
- Connect to Wi-Fi: Open the Dreamehome app and follow the on-screen instructions to add your D10 Plus Gen 2. This typically involves resetting the robot's Wi-Fi (press and hold the Spot Clean and Recharge buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds until you hear a voice prompt) and connecting your phone to the robot's temporary Wi-Fi hotspot before connecting it to your home Wi-Fi network.
- Initial Mapping: Once connected, the robot will perform an initial mapping run of your home. Ensure all doors are open and clear any obstacles to allow for accurate map creation.

4.4 Smart Features (Dreamehome App)
The Dreamehome app provides extensive control and customization options:
- Map Management: View and edit the generated map of your home. You can divide, merge, and rename rooms.
- No-Go Zones & Virtual Walls: Draw virtual boundaries on the map to prevent the robot from entering specific areas or crossing certain lines. This is useful for delicate items or areas where mopping is not desired (e.g., carpets).
- Scheduled Cleaning: Set up cleaning schedules for specific times and days.
- Zone Cleaning: Select specific areas on the map for the robot to clean.
- Voice Control: The robot is compatible with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for convenient voice commands.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your robot vacuum.
5.1 Auto-Empty Dust Bag
The auto-empty base collects dust from the robot's dustbin into a large 4L dust bag, which can hold up to 90 days of debris.
- Replacement: When the dust bag is full (indicated by the app or a light on the base), simply remove the old bag and replace it with a new one. Dispose of the full bag responsibly.

Figure 7: The automatic dust collection system simplifies maintenance by emptying the robot's dustbin into the base.
5.2 Robot Dustbin and Filter
- Emptying: Although the auto-empty feature handles most debris, it is recommended to manually check and empty the robot's internal dustbin periodically, especially if you have a lot of pet hair or fine dust.
- Cleaning the Filter: Remove the HEPA filter from the dustbin. Tap off loose debris. The filter is washable; rinse it under running water and allow it to air dry completely (at least 24 hours) before reinserting. Do not use a brush or fingers to clean the filter.
5.3 Main Brush and Side Brush
- Main Brush: Remove the main brush cover and then the main brush. Use the cleaning tool to cut and remove any tangled hair or debris. Clean the brush bearings.
- Side Brush: Remove the side brush by gently pulling it up. Clean any hair or debris wrapped around it.
5.4 Mop Pad and Water Tank
- Mop Pad: After each mopping session, remove the mop pad and wash it thoroughly. It can be hand-washed or machine-washed. Allow it to air dry completely.
- Water Tank: Empty any remaining water from the tank after each use to prevent mold or odors. Rinse the tank with clean water.
5.5 Sensors and Charging Contacts
- Wipe all sensors (cliff sensors, wall sensor, LiDAR sensor) and charging contacts on both the robot and the base with a soft, dry cloth. This ensures proper navigation and charging.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Robot does not power on or charge. | Low battery; charging contacts are dirty; power cord not connected. | Ensure robot is properly docked. Clean charging contacts on both robot and base. Check power cord connection. |
| Robot cannot connect to Wi-Fi. | Incorrect Wi-Fi password; robot too far from router; 5GHz Wi-Fi network. | Ensure correct 2.4GHz Wi-Fi password. Move robot closer to router. Reset Wi-Fi on robot and try again. |
| Poor cleaning performance. | Dustbin full; filter clogged; main/side brush tangled; suction level too low. | Empty dustbin. Clean or replace filter. Clean main and side brushes. Increase suction level in app. |
| Robot gets stuck frequently. | Obstacles on floor; cliff sensors dirty; robot stuck on high thresholds. | Clear cables, toys, and other obstacles. Clean cliff sensors. Use no-go zones for problematic areas. |
| Auto-empty function not working. | Dust bag full or not installed correctly; dust duct blocked. | Replace dust bag. Ensure dust bag is properly seated. Check for blockages in the dust duct of the base and robot. |
| Mopping leaves streaks or is ineffective. | Mop pad dirty or dry; water tank empty; water flow setting too low. | Clean or replace mop pad. Refill water tank. Increase water flow setting in app. |
