Safety Information

WARNING: To prevent serious injury, always follow these safety guidelines:

  • Do not load more than 500 lbs onto the bed frame. Exceeding this weight limit may cause structural damage and injury.
  • Exercise caution around legs during assembly to avoid pinch points.
  • Assemble the bed frame strictly according to the provided instructions to ensure stability and prevent collapse.
  • Ensure all bolts and screws are securely tightened before use and periodically check for tightness.
  • Keep small parts away from children during assembly to prevent choking hazards.

Step 4: Place Slats

Lay the 14 poplar wood slats across the frame, ensuring they are evenly spaced. The slats are designed to provide direct support for your mattress, eliminating the need for a box spring. Some slats may include considerate stickers to help retain the mattress in place.

Step 5: Final Tightening

Once all components are in place, fully tighten all bolts and screws. Ensure the frame is stable and level before placing your mattress.

Operating Instructions

Your DORTALA bed frame is designed for optimal mattress support without a box spring.

  • Mattress Placement: Place your full-size mattress directly onto the wooden slats. The frame is compatible with memory foam and traditional mattresses.
  • Weight Capacity: The bed frame has a maximum weight capacity of 500 lbs. Do not exceed this limit to maintain structural integrity and safety.
  • Under-bed Storage: Utilize the 10.5-inch under-bed clearance for storage boxes or other items. This space also allows for easy cleaning underneath the bed.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the wooden frame with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that may damage the wood finish.
  • Tightness Check: Periodically (e.g., every 3-6 months) check all bolts and screws to ensure they remain tight. Re-tighten if necessary to maintain stability.
  • Wood Care: To preserve the natural wood finish, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme humidity.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Bed frame wobbles or is unstable. Loose bolts or screws. Uneven floor. Ensure all bolts and screws are fully tightened. Move the bed to a level surface or use shims under legs if necessary.
Squeaking noises. Loose connections. Slats rubbing against frame. Re-tighten all hardware. Check if slats are properly seated and not rubbing. Apply a small amount of wax or felt pads where wood meets wood if squeaking persists.
Mattress slides on slats. Lack of friction between mattress and slats. Ensure the "considerate stickers" (hoop & loop fasteners) on the slats are clean and making contact with the mattress. You can also place a non-slip mat between the mattress and slats.
