3. Setup Guide

3.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the doorbell camera for 8-10 hours using the provided charging cable. The charging indicator light will turn blue from red when fully charged. A full charge provides approximately 60 days of battery life under laboratory conditions (may vary based on usage and environment).

3.2 Micro Memory Card Installation (Optional)

The doorbell supports local storage via a Micro memory card (up to 128GB, not included). To install:

  1. Insert the provided pin tool into the small hole on the bottom of the doorbell to release it from its bracket.
  2. Carefully separate the doorbell from the bracket.
  3. Locate the card slot on the left side of the doorbell. Insert the Micro SD card into the slot.
  4. Reattach the doorbell to the bracket, ensuring it clicks securely into place. This design protects the memory card from theft.

3.3 App Download and Pairing

Download the "ieGeek Cam" app from your smartphone's app store. Register an account with your email and select your region. Follow the in-app instructions to pair your doorbell with your 2.4Ghz WiFi network. The doorbell does not support 5Ghz WiFi connection.

3.4 Chime Setup

The wireless chime requires 3 AAA batteries (included). Install the batteries into the chime unit. The chime and doorbell should be paired by default. If not, short press the reset button on the chime to enter pairing mode (indicator light flashes red), then press the bell button on the doorbell. The chime will sound, and the indicator light will flash blue when ringing, confirming successful pairing.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Real-time Monitoring and Alerts

Access live view of your doorstep through the ieGeek Cam app anytime, anywhere. The doorbell features PIR motion detection with a range of up to 20ft. When motion is detected, you will receive a real-time notification on your phone within 3 seconds, and footage will be recorded. You can customize the surveillance area and adjust sensitivity to reduce false alarms.

4.2 Two-Way Audio and Voice Changer

Engage in two-way conversations with visitors through the built-in speaker and microphone. The voice changer feature allows you to alter your voice (e.g., to a male or clown voice) for added security or fun. You can also select from up to 3 pre-recorded voice messages for quick replies when you are unavailable.

4.3 Image Quality and Night Vision

The doorbell provides 1080P HD image quality and a 130° wide-angle view, allowing you to clearly see visitors and packages. Built-in infrared light automatically activates night vision mode in low-light conditions, ensuring clear visibility even at night.

4.4 Alexa Integration

The ieGeek Bell J9 works with Alexa. Connect your doorbell to compatible Alexa devices to view live feeds or receive announcements when someone is at your door.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Charging

Recharge the doorbell camera when the battery level is low. Use the provided charging cable and allow 8-10 hours for a full charge. The doorbell must be removed from its bracket using the pin tool for charging.

5.2 Weather Resistance

The ieGeek Bell J9 is designed for outdoor use and is waterproof (IP65 rated). It can withstand various weather conditions including rain, snow, and dust.

5.3 Micro Memory Card Protection

The Micro memory card slot is secured by an anti-theft bracket. Do not attempt to remove the doorbell from its bracket by force. Always use the included pin tool as described in Section 3.2.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ieGeek Bell J9 doorbell, consider the following common solutions:

  • No Power/Not Charging: Ensure the charging cable is securely connected and the power source is active. Allow sufficient time for charging (8-10 hours).
  • No WiFi Connection: Verify that your WiFi network is 2.4Ghz. Ensure the doorbell is within range of your router. Try resetting the doorbell and re-pairing it through the app.
  • Poor Video Quality: Check your WiFi signal strength in the installation location. Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from obstructions.
  • Motion Detection Issues: Adjust the sensitivity settings in the ieGeek Cam app. Customize the surveillance area to avoid unwanted triggers.
  • Chime Not Ringing: Ensure the chime has fresh AAA batteries installed. Re-pair the chime with the doorbell if necessary (refer to Section 3.4).
