2. Safety Information
Always observe basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury. Keep children and bystanders away from the operating area. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and sturdy footwear.
- Fuel Handling: Handle petrol with extreme care. It is highly flammable. Store fuel in approved containers in a well-ventilated area.
- Engine Operation: Do not operate the engine in an enclosed space where carbon monoxide fumes can accumulate.
- Blade Safety: The cutting blade is sharp. Never touch the blade while the engine is running. Disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance.
- Slope Operation: Exercise extreme caution when mowing on slopes. Mow across the face of slopes, never up and down.

4. Setup
4.1 Unpacking and Initial Assembly
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts are present according to the packing list. Assemble the handlebar by securing the lower and upper sections with the provided bolts and knobs. Attach the grass catcher frame and fabric bag.
4.2 Fuel and Oil Filling
Before first use, fill the engine with appropriate 4-stroke engine oil (refer to engine manual for specifications) and unleaded petrol. Do not overfill. Always check oil levels before each use.
4.3 Battery Installation for E-Start
Insert the fully charged 20V Scheppach IXES 2 Ah battery into the designated battery compartment for the electric start function. Ensure it clicks securely into place.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Starting the Engine
Electric Start: Ensure the battery is charged. Press and hold the safety bar against the handle, then press the electric start button. The engine should start immediately.
Pull Start: If the battery is low or as an alternative, hold the safety bar, then pull the starter cord firmly and smoothly until the engine starts.
5.2 Adjusting Cutting Height
The lawn mower features a central 7-level cutting height adjustment (25 – 75 mm). To adjust, lift the adjustment lever located near the wheels and move it to the desired height setting. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height.

5.3 Mowing Functions
Your mower supports multiple functions:
- Collecting: Attach the 65L grass catcher for collecting clippings.
- Mulching: Insert the mulching plug into the rear discharge opening. This finely chops grass clippings and returns them to the lawn as natural fertilizer.
- Side Discharge: Attach the side discharge chute to direct clippings away from the mower. This is useful for taller grass or when collecting is not desired.

Figure 5.2: The side discharge chute can be easily mounted or dismounted as needed.
5.4 Engaging Wheel Drive
The mower features a switchable wheel drive for easier operation, especially on slopes or larger areas. Engage the drive lever on the handlebar to activate the self-propelled function. Release the lever to disengage.

Figure 5.3: The wheel drive provides optimal support during mowing, especially on steeper lawn areas.
5.5 Stopping the Engine
To stop the engine, release the safety bar on the handlebar. The engine will automatically shut off.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your lawn mower.
6.1 Cleaning (Easy Clean Function)
After each use, connect a garden hose to the Easy Clean water connection on the cutting deck. Start the engine briefly to allow the rotating blade to clean the underside of the deck. Ensure the engine is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected before manually cleaning any remaining debris.

Figure 6.1: Easy Clean function with water connection for convenient cleaning of the cutting deck.
6.2 Blade Care
Regularly inspect the cutting blade for sharpness and damage. A dull blade can tear grass, leading to an unhealthy lawn. Sharpen or replace the blade as needed. Always wear heavy-duty gloves when handling the blade.
6.3 Engine Maintenance
Refer to the separate engine manual for detailed maintenance schedules. This typically includes checking and changing engine oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, and inspecting/replacing the spark plug.
6.4 Storage
For long-term storage, ensure the fuel tank is empty or treated with a fuel stabilizer. Clean the mower thoroughly. Store in a dry, well-ventilated area. The foldable handle allows for space-saving storage.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine does not start | No fuel; low oil; spark plug issue; safety bar not engaged; battery low (for E-Start) | Add fuel; check/add oil; inspect/replace spark plug; engage safety bar; charge battery |
| Mower leaves uneven cut | Dull blade; incorrect cutting height setting; excessive grass height | Sharpen/replace blade; adjust cutting height; mow in smaller passes |
| Excessive vibration | Bent or unbalanced blade; loose components | Inspect blade for damage; tighten all fasteners; seek professional service if needed |
| Grass catcher not filling | Discharge chute clogged; grass catcher full; mulching plug installed | Clear chute; empty catcher; remove mulching plug for collecting |
