4. Setup and Installation
The NearHub monitor mount offers two installation options: C-clamp or Grommet mount. Choose the method best suited for your desk.
4.1. Choose Mounting Method
C-Clamp Mount: Ideal for desks without a pre-drilled hole. Attaches to the edge of your desk. Supports desk thicknesses from 0.39" to 2.6" (10mm-66mm).
Grommet Mount: Requires a hole in your desk (typically 0.39" to 2.36" / 10mm-60mm diameter). Supports desk thicknesses from 0.39" to 2.6" (10mm-66mm).
4.2. Install the Desk Mount
- For C-Clamp: Attach the C-clamp base to the monitor arm pole. Position the clamp on the edge of your desk and tighten the knob until it is secure. Ensure the mount is stable and does not wobble.
- For Grommet Mount: If your desk has a grommet hole, disassemble the C-clamp to use the grommet plate. Insert the bolt through the grommet hole and secure it from underneath the desk with the provided washer and nut. Tighten firmly.
4.3. Attach VESA Plate to Monitor
- Carefully place your monitor face down on a soft, clean surface to prevent scratches.
- Locate the VESA mounting holes on the back of your monitor. These are typically in a square pattern (75x75mm or 100x100mm).
- Attach the VESA plate to the monitor using the appropriate screws and spacers from the hardware kit. Ensure the screws are tightened securely but do not overtighten.
4.4. Mount Monitor to Arm
- With assistance if needed, carefully slide the VESA plate with the attached monitor onto the monitor arm's VESA head.
- Ensure the monitor is securely seated on the arm. There may be a locking mechanism; engage it if present.
4.5. Adjust Gas Spring Tension
- The gas spring tension needs to be adjusted to match your monitor's weight. If the monitor sags or springs up, the tension needs adjustment.
- Locate the tension adjustment screw on the arm (refer to the diagram in the included printed manual for exact location).
- Use the provided hex key to turn the screw: turn clockwise (towards '+') to increase tension for heavier monitors, and counter-clockwise (towards '-') to decrease tension for lighter monitors.
- Adjust until the monitor stays at any desired height without drifting.
4.6. Cable Management
Utilize the integrated cable management clips or channels on the arm to route your monitor cables neatly. This helps maintain a tidy workspace and prevents cable damage.
5. Operation and Adjustment
The NearHub monitor arm provides flexible adjustments to optimize your viewing experience.
- Height Adjustment: Gently push or pull the monitor up or down to your desired height. The gas spring will hold it in place once tension is correctly set.
- Tilt Adjustment: Tilt the monitor screen +90° to -45° (upwards or downwards) to reduce glare and find a comfortable viewing angle.
- Swivel Adjustment: Swivel the monitor 180° left or right at the arm joint to share your screen or change viewing direction.
- Rotation Adjustment: Rotate the monitor 360° to switch between landscape and portrait orientations.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your monitor mount.
- Cleaning: Wipe the mount with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
- Periodic Checks: Periodically check all screws and bolts to ensure they remain tight. Re-tighten if necessary, but do not overtighten.
- Gas Spring Adjustment: If your monitor's weight changes (e.g., switching monitors), re-adjust the gas spring tension as described in Section 4.5.
7. Troubleshooting
Refer to the following common issues and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Monitor sags or drops | Gas spring tension is too low for monitor weight. | Increase gas spring tension by turning the adjustment screw clockwise (towards '+'). |
| Monitor springs up or is difficult to push down | Gas spring tension is too high for monitor weight. | Decrease gas spring tension by turning the adjustment screw counter-clockwise (towards '-'). |
| Arm is wobbly or unstable | Mounting screws are loose or desk is unstable. | Check and tighten all mounting screws (C-clamp or grommet). Ensure your desk is sturdy. |
| Monitor cannot be tilted or rotated | Tilt/rotation screws are too tight. | Loosen the tilt/rotation screws slightly with the appropriate hex key. |
