Game Setup
- Place the Gameboard: Unfold the gameboard and place it on a flat surface.
- Choose Your House: Each player selects one of the 8 House Cards (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin). There are two cards for each house. This card will be used to track your House Points.
- Select a Golden Token: Each player chooses one of the 6 unique golden tokens to represent them on the board.
- Distribute House Points: The Prefect (youngest player or chosen by agreement) distributes House Point chips to each player. Refer to the Game Guide for initial distribution amounts.
- Prepare Owl Post Cards: Shuffle the 32 Owl Post Cards and place them face down in the Owl Post Card Holder (the snowy owl figurine).
- Arrange Title Deed Cards: Separate the 28 Title Deed Cards by color set and place them next to their corresponding properties on the board.
- Place House Crests: Keep the 44 House Crests in a general supply area near the board.
- Designate a Banker: One player is chosen to be the Banker, responsible for all House Point transactions, Title Deeds, and House Crests not yet owned by players.

Operating: How to Play
The game proceeds in turns, with players rolling the dice and moving their tokens around the board. The objective is to collect the most House Points by exploring locations and collecting rent from other players.
- Starting the Game: The Prefect goes first, then play proceeds clockwise.
- Your Turn:
- Roll both dice.
- Move your token clockwise the number of spaces indicated by the dice.
- Perform the action associated with the space you land on.
- Landing on Spaces:
- Locations (Properties): If you land on an unowned location, you may purchase it from the Banker for the price indicated on the board. If you choose not to buy it, the Banker immediately auctions it to the highest bidder. If you land on an owned location, you must pay rent to the owner as indicated on the Title Deed card. Rent increases if the owner has a full color set or has added House Crests.
- Owl Post: Draw the top Owl Post Card and follow its instructions. These cards can grant House Points, require payments, or send you to other spaces.
- Go: When you pass or land on the "GO" space, collect House Points from the Banker as specified in the Game Guide.
- Free Parking: This is a safe space; nothing happens when you land here.
- Just Visiting / Jail: If you land on "Just Visiting," you are simply visiting. If you are sent to "Jail," move your token directly to the Jail space and follow the rules for getting out of Jail (e.g., rolling doubles, paying House Points, or using an Owl Post card).
- Go to Jail: Move your token directly to the Jail space. Do not pass GO and do not collect House Points.
- Buying House Crests: Once you own all locations in a color set, you can begin adding House Crests to them during your turn. House Crests significantly increase the rent collected from other players. You must build evenly across properties in a color set.
- Trading: Players can trade locations, House Crests, and House Points with each other at any time.
- Mortgaging: If you need House Points, you can mortgage your owned locations. Mortgaged properties do not collect rent.

Game End and Winning
The game ends when all locations on the board have been explored (purchased or auctioned). Once this condition is met, players count their total House Points. This includes:
- All House Point chips in their possession.
- The value of all owned locations (as listed on their Title Deed cards).
- The value of any House Crests on their properties.
The player with the most House Points at the end of the game is declared the winner and the ultimate champion of Hogwarts!
