6. Maintenance
6.1. Battery Replacement
Replace batteries when the remote's indicator light becomes dim or unresponsive. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 4.1.
6.2. Cleaning
Wipe the remote with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the remote's surface or internal components.
7. Troubleshooting
- Remote not responding:
- Ensure fresh AA batteries are correctly installed.
- Verify direct line of sight between the remote and the device (TV/STB). Obstructions can block IR signals.
- Re-attempt programming the remote using the correct codes for your devices.
- Remote controls TV but not Cable Box (or vice versa):
- Ensure both TV and STB are programmed correctly. Refer to Section 4.2.
- Confirm the remote is in the correct mode (TV or STB) if applicable, though the Flipper is designed to manage both seamlessly after setup.
- Remote does not work with streaming devices:
- The Flipper remote is designed for IR infrared TVs and cable/STB media centers. It does not have navigation buttons and is not compatible with streaming set-top boxes (e.g., Roku, Apple TV, Google TV, Fios TV+), HDMI dongles (e.g., Fire TV, DirecTV Gemini), or streaming applications (e.g., Netflix, YouTube, Prime, Hulu).
- Xfinity box not responding:
- Xfinity boxes often require a direct line of sight. If the box is hidden, an IR extender may be necessary.
