4. Initial Setup

Before first use, ensure all packaging materials are removed and clean all removable parts.

  1. Unpack and Clean: Remove all packaging. Wash the portafilter, filter baskets, drip tray, and water reservoir with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  2. Fill Water Reservoir: Remove the water reservoir from the back of the machine. Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the 'MAX' line. Place it back securely.
  3. Prime the Machine:
    • Plug the machine into a grounded electrical outlet.
    • Press the Power button to turn the machine ON. The indicator light will flash as it heats up.
    • Once the light is solid, place a cup under the portafilter (without coffee).
    • Press the Manual Brew button to run hot water through the system for about 30 seconds. This primes the pump and heats the internal components.
    • Turn the Steam Dial to the 'ON' position to release steam from the frothing wand for a few seconds, then turn it off. This primes the steam system.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Making Espresso

  1. Prepare Portafilter: Select the desired filter basket (single or double shot) and place it into the portafilter. Fill the basket with finely ground espresso coffee. Use the scoop/tamper to lightly tamp the grounds.
  2. Insert Portafilter: Slide the portafilter into the brew head from the front of the machine and lock it into place by rotating the handle to the right.
  3. Place Cup(s): Place one or two espresso cups on the drip tray directly under the portafilter spouts.
  4. Brew Espresso: Once the 'READY' light is solid green, press the Manual Brew button. The machine will begin extracting espresso. Monitor the pressure dial for optimal extraction (typically in the 'OPTIMAL ZONE').
  5. Stop Brewing: Press the Manual Brew button again to stop the flow of espresso when your desired volume is reached.
  6. Remove Portafilter: Carefully remove the portafilter by rotating the handle to the left. Discard used coffee grounds.

5.2 Frothing Milk

  1. Fill Milk Pitcher: Fill a metal milk pitcher (included) with cold milk (dairy or plant-based) to just below the spout.
  2. Position Wand: Submerge the tip of the frothing wand just below the surface of the milk.
  3. Activate Steam: Turn the Steam Dial to the 'ON' position. Steam will begin to release.
  4. Froth Milk: Move the pitcher up and down slowly to create foam. Adjust the steam dial for desired texture. Continue until the milk reaches the desired temperature (typically 140-150°F / 60-65°C).
  5. Stop Steaming: Turn the Steam Dial to the 'OFF' position.
  6. Clean Wand: Immediately wipe the frothing wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly release steam again to clear any internal blockages.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Daily Cleaning
