2. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly install your Waterdrop WD-PF-01A Plus replacement filter:

  1. Prepare the Filter: Remove the new filter from its packaging. Submerge the filter in clean water for approximately 10-15 minutes to allow the carbon block to fully saturate and remove any air bubbles. This pre-soaking helps ensure optimal filtration performance and flow rate.
  2. Remove Old Filter: If replacing an existing filter, carefully remove the old filter from your Waterdrop pitcher or dispenser according to your specific model's instructions. Discard the old filter responsibly.
  3. Insert New Filter: Align the new WD-PF-01A Plus filter with the designated slot in your pitcher or dispenser. Press down firmly to ensure a tight seal. The filter should fit snugly to prevent unfiltered water from bypassing the filtration media.
  4. Flush the Filter: Fill the reservoir with tap water. Allow the water to filter through and discard the first two full pitchers/reservoirs of filtered water. This flushes out any carbon fines and prepares the filter for regular use.
  5. Check for Leaks: After flushing, inspect for any leaks around the filter's seal. If leaks are present, remove and re-insert the filter, ensuring it is seated correctly.

3. Operating Instructions

Once the filter is installed and flushed, your Waterdrop system is ready for use. Simply fill the top reservoir with tap water, and the filter will process it into the lower chamber, providing clean drinking water. The filter is designed for an exclusively fast flow rate of 0.3 gallons per minute (GPM), allowing quick access to filtered water.

The direct filter construction ensures that water is filtered efficiently, and nothing is retained in the reservoir that could compromise water purity.

4. Maintenance

Regular filter replacement is crucial for maintaining optimal water quality and filtration performance.

Filter Replacement Schedule:

The Waterdrop WD-PF-01A Plus filter has a service life of up to 200 gallons or approximately 2 months, whichever comes first. This duration may vary based on local water quality and usage frequency. It is recommended to replace the filter promptly when the indicator on your pitcher/dispenser signals replacement, or after the recommended period, to ensure continuous access to clean water.

One filter can replace over 1600 standard 16oz water bottles, contributing to reduced plastic waste.

5. Troubleshooting

Slow Flow Rate:

  • Re-seat the Filter: Remove the filter and re-insert it firmly to ensure a proper seal.
  • Pre-soak Again: If the filter was not adequately pre-soaked, air bubbles might be trapped. Remove the filter and submerge it in water for 10-15 minutes to release trapped air.
  • Tap or Shake: Gently tap or shake the filter while submerged in water to dislodge any air pockets.
  • Check Filter Life: If the filter has been in use for close to 2 months or 200 gallons, a reduced flow rate can indicate it is nearing the end of its service life and requires replacement.

Unusual Taste or Odor:

  • Flush More Water: If this is a new filter, ensure you have flushed at least two full reservoirs of water through it.
  • Replace Filter: If the filter is old or has exceeded its recommended service life, it may no longer effectively remove contaminants. Replace the filter with a new one.
