Setup and Installation
The Steinel L 42 C LED Outdoor Light is designed for wall mounting. Ensure the mounting surface is suitable and can support the weight of the fixture.
- Prepare the Installation Site: Choose a suitable location on an outdoor wall. Mark the drilling points using the light fixture as a template.
- Drill Holes: Drill holes at the marked positions. Insert the provided dowels into the drilled holes.
- Connect Wiring: Connect the electrical wiring (Live, Neutral, Earth) from your mains supply to the corresponding terminals on the light fixture. Ensure all connections are secure and insulated. The power supply required is 220-240 V / 50-60 Hz.
- Mount the Fixture: Secure the light fixture to the wall using the provided screws and spacers. Ensure the fixture is firmly attached and level.
- Restore Power: Once installation is complete, restore power to the circuit. The light should illuminate or be ready for app configuration.

Operating Instructions
Steinel Connect App and Bluetooth Mesh
The Steinel L 42 C LED Outdoor Light is controlled and configured via the Steinel Connect App, utilizing Bluetooth Mesh technology. This allows for individual control or networking with other Sensor Connect lamps to form groups.
- Download the App: Download the "Steinel Connect" app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
- Connect to the Light: Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to discover and connect to your L 42 C light. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
- Dimming Function: The main light of the wall lamp can be dimmed via the app from 0-100%.
- Networking with Sensor Connect Lamps: If you have other Steinel Sensor Connect lamps, you can network them via Bluetooth Mesh. When motion is detected by a Sensor Connect lamp in the group, all lights in that group will automatically switch to the set brightness.
- Additional App Functions (in a sensor fixture group):
- Soft Light On: Gradual illumination for a more comfortable experience.
- Night Light Function: Maintain a low-level ambient light during darkness.
- Time Setting: Adjust the duration the light stays on after activation.
- Range Setting: Configure the detection range for networked sensor lamps.
- Twilight Setting (self-learning): The light learns ambient light levels to determine when to activate.
- Timer Function: Schedule specific on/off times for the light.
