4. Installation and Setup
4.1 Choosing a Location
Install detectors in all sleeping areas and on every level of your home. For optimal CO detection, place the detector near sleeping areas and living spaces. For smoke detection, avoid placing near cooking appliances or in excessively dusty areas.

Figure 3: Recommended Placement for Smoke and CO Detection. This image shows the detector's function in detecting smoke (Rauch) from a kitchen range and carbon monoxide (CO) from a fireplace, indicating suitable installation areas.
4.2 Physical Installation
- Step 1: Align the lines on the mounting bracket with the detector.
- Step 2: Attach the mounting bracket to the ceiling or wall using the provided screws and anchors. Ensure the bracket is securely fastened.
- Step 3: Twist the detector onto the bracket about 5 degrees to lock it into place.
- Step 4: After successful installation, press the test button. A beep should sound, indicating the detector is active.

Figure 4: Step-by-Step Installation Guide. This image visually demonstrates the four steps for physically installing the detector: aligning, attaching the bracket, twisting the detector to lock, and testing.
4.3 WiFi Connection and App Setup
The detector connects to your smartphone via the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app (available on iOS and Android). Ensure your WiFi network is 2.4 GHz.
- Download and install the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app on your smartphone.
- Register or log in to your account.
- Follow the in-app instructions to add a new device. The detector will need to be in pairing mode (refer to app instructions for specific pairing steps, usually involving pressing and holding the test button).
- Ensure the detector is within range of your 2.4 GHz WiFi router for stable connection and notifications.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Testing the Detector
It is recommended to test the detector weekly. Press the large test/silence button on the detector. The alarm will sound briefly, and the LED indicator will flash. This confirms the unit is functioning correctly.
5.2 Silencing an Alarm
In case of a nuisance alarm (e.g., from cooking fumes), you can temporarily silence the alarm by pressing the test/silence button. The detector will enter a temporary silence mode. If the smoke or CO concentration remains high, the alarm will reactivate after a short period.
5.3 Alarm Indications
- Smoke Alarm: Loud, continuous beeping with flashing red LED.
- Carbon Monoxide Alarm: Series of short beeps with flashing red LED.
- Low Battery Warning: A short chirp approximately every 30-60 seconds, accompanied by a flashing yellow LED. This indicates the end of the detector's 10-year lifespan.
- Fault Indication: A different pattern of chirps or flashes may indicate a fault. Refer to the app for specific fault codes or contact support.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Dust can interfere with the detector's performance. Gently vacuum the detector's vents and exterior cover monthly using a soft brush attachment. Do not use water, cleaning solvents, or chemicals on the detector.
6.2 Battery Life
The XINDUM CS11W detector is equipped with a sealed lithium battery designed to last for 10 years. The battery is not user-replaceable. When the battery reaches the end of its life, the detector will emit a low battery warning (chirp and yellow LED flash). At this point, the entire unit must be replaced.

7. Troubleshooting
- False Alarms:
- Cause: Steam from showers, cooking fumes, excessive dust.
- Solution: Relocate the detector away from sources of steam or fumes. Clean the detector regularly. Use the silence button for temporary nuisance alarms.
- No Alarm During Test:
- Cause: Detector not properly installed, unit faulty, or end of life.
- Solution: Ensure the detector is securely twisted onto its bracket. If the issue persists, the unit may be faulty and require replacement.
- Low Battery Chirp:
- Cause: Detector has reached the end of its 10-year operational life.
- Solution: Replace the entire detector unit.
- No App Notifications:
- Cause: WiFi connection issue, app settings, or detector out of range.
- Solution: Ensure the detector is connected to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network. Check app notification settings. Verify the detector is within effective range of your router (refer to Figure 5).
