1. Introduction

The DocSmart Mini Chainsaw is a versatile and powerful tool designed for efficient wood cutting, gardening trimming, and bush pruning. Featuring a 1000W pure copper motor, it delivers fast and smooth cuts, making it ideal for various outdoor projects. Its lightweight (3.26 lbs) and ergonomic design ensures comfortable one-handed operation, suitable for both experienced users and beginners. This manual will guide you through the proper use and care of your new chainsaw.

2. Safety Instructions

Always prioritize safety when operating power tools. Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before use. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

2.1 General Safety Precautions

• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, and sturdy footwear.
• Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
• Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
• Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
• Avoid unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool.

2.2 Product-Specific Safety Features

• Safety Lock: Prevents accidental activation of the chainsaw. Always engage the safety lock when the tool is not in use or during transport.
• Safety Baffles: Designed to prevent wood chips and debris from splashing towards the user during operation.
• Non-slip Front Handle: Provides a firm grip and enhanced control, reducing the risk of slippage during cutting.

3. Package Contents

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Charging

The chainsaw is powered by 2000mAh Lithium-Ion batteries. Before first use, fully charge both batteries.

1. Connect the charger to a standard power outlet.
2. Insert the battery into the charger. The indicator light on the charger will show red during charging.
3. A full charge takes approximately 2 hours per battery. The indicator light will turn green when charging is complete.
4. A fully charged battery provides approximately 30 minutes of working time, depending on the load.

4.2 Chain and Guide Plate Installation

The chainsaw supports both 6-inch and 8-inch guide plates and chains, allowing you to adapt to different cutting needs. The 8-inch chain is typically pre-mounted.

1. Ensure the battery is removed from the chainsaw.
2. Loosen the two nuts on the side cover using the provided screwdriver.
3. Remove the side cover and the existing guide plate/chain if present.
4. Place the desired chain around the guide plate, ensuring the cutting teeth are facing the correct direction (refer to the chain direction indicator on the chainsaw body).
5. Fit the guide plate onto the chainsaw body, aligning the tensioning pin with the hole on the guide plate.
6. Replace the side cover and lightly tighten the two nuts. Do not fully tighten yet.

4.3 Oil Filling (Auto Lubrication System)

The chainsaw features an auto lubrication system to ensure smooth cutting and prolong chain life. Oil is not included and must be purchased separately (suitable chainsaw bar and chain oil).

1. Locate the oil tank cap on the top of the chainsaw.
2. Unscrew the cap and carefully pour up to 30ml of suitable chainsaw bar and chain oil into the tank.
3. Tighten the oil cap promptly and securely to prevent leakage.
4. Before starting the chainsaw, squeeze the oil bulb a few times to prime the system and ensure oil reaches the chain.

4.4 Adjusting Chain Tension

Proper chain tension is crucial for safe and efficient operation. Adjust the tension after installing the chain and periodically during use.

1. Ensure the two nuts on the side cover are slightly loosened (as per step 6 in 4.2).
2. Turn the tension adjustment knob (usually a teal-colored dial) to adjust the chain tension. Turn clockwise to tighten, counter-clockwise to loosen.
3. The chain should be snug against the guide bar but still able to be pulled freely by hand. There should be no excessive slack.
4. Once the tension is correct, fully tighten the two nuts on the side cover.

5. Operation

Once the chainsaw is set up and the battery is charged, you are ready to begin operation. Always wear appropriate safety gear.

5.1 Powering On/Off

1. Insert a fully charged battery into the chainsaw until it clicks into place. The power display on the battery will illuminate.
2. To start the chainsaw, first press and hold the safety lock button (located near the trigger).
3. While holding the safety lock, press the switch button (trigger) to activate the chain.
4. To stop the chainsaw, release the switch button. The safety lock will automatically reset.

5.2 Cutting Guidelines

The DocSmart Mini Chainsaw is designed for cutting small to medium-sized branches and wood. Avoid attempting to cut branches larger than the recommended guide bar length (6 or 8 inches).

• Secure the Workpiece: Ensure the branch or wood you are cutting is stable and will not shift during the cut.
• Maintain a Firm Grip: Hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands if possible, or with one hand if the task allows, ensuring a stable stance.
• Start Slowly: Gently press the trigger to allow the chain to reach full speed before making contact with the wood.
• Let the Tool Work: Apply steady, light pressure. Do not force the chainsaw through the wood; let the chain do the cutting.
• Avoid Kickback: Be aware of the guide bar tip. Contact with the tip can cause kickback, where the chainsaw rapidly moves upwards and backwards towards the operator.
• Lubricate Regularly: Periodically squeeze the oil bulb during extended cutting sessions to ensure continuous chain lubrication.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your DocSmart Mini Chainsaw.

6.1 Cleaning

• Always remove the battery before cleaning.
• Use the provided cleaning brush to remove sawdust, wood chips, and debris from the guide bar, chain, and motor housing.
• Ensure the air vents are clear of obstructions to prevent overheating.
• Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

6.2 Chain Care

• Lubrication: Ensure the oil tank is filled before each use and periodically squeeze the oil bulb during operation.
• Sharpening: A dull chain will reduce cutting efficiency and increase strain on the motor. Use the included sharpener to keep the chain teeth sharp. Refer to the chain sharpening instructions provided with the sharpener.
• Replacement: Replace the chain when it becomes excessively worn, damaged, or can no longer be sharpened effectively.

6.3 Battery Storage

• Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• For long-term storage, charge batteries to approximately 50% capacity.
• Do not store batteries fully discharged or fully charged for extended periods.
