2. Setup and First Use

Before using your PUR 7-Cup Water Filter Pitcher for the first time, follow these steps to ensure proper function and optimal water quality. The product includes one genuine PUR filter.

2.1 Unpacking and Initial Cleaning

  1. Remove all packaging materials: Carefully unbox the pitcher and filter.
  2. Wash components: Wash the pitcher, lid, and filter housing with mild dish soap and warm water. The pitcher and lid are dishwasher safe (top rack recommended). Do not wash the filter itself with soap.
  3. Rinse thoroughly: Ensure all soap residue is removed from the pitcher components.

2.2 Filter Preparation and Installation

  1. Pre-soak the filter: Submerge the PUR filter in cold water for 15 minutes. This helps remove air bubbles and prepares the filter for optimal performance.
  2. Insert the filter: Firmly push the prepared filter into the filter housing until it is securely seated.
  3. Assemble the pitcher: Place the filter housing with the installed filter into the pitcher. Ensure the lid is properly aligned and secured on top of the pitcher.

2.3 Initial Filter Flush

  1. Fill the pitcher: Fill the pitcher with cold tap water. Allow the water to filter through completely.
  2. Discard first two pitchers: For optimal performance, discard the first two pitchers of filtered water. This flushes out any loose carbon particles from the new filter.
  3. Reset filter indicator: If your pitcher has a filter indicator light, press and hold the reset button (usually located on the lid) for a few seconds until the light flashes or turns green, indicating a new filter has been installed.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Filling the Pitcher

  1. Open the lid: Lift the easy-fill lid or remove the entire lid assembly.
  2. Pour tap water: Fill the reservoir with cold tap water. Do not overfill past the maximum fill line.
  3. Allow filtration: The water will slowly filter through the PUR filter into the main pitcher chamber.
  4. Close the lid: Once filled, ensure the lid is securely closed. The stay-tight lid design allows you to pour water even while the reservoir is still filtering.

3.2 Pouring Filtered Water

To dispense filtered water, simply tilt the pitcher and pour. The LockFit™ top cap design is engineered to keep the lid securely in place during pouring, preventing unfiltered water from mixing with filtered water.

  • Alternatively, wash by hand with mild dish soap and warm water.
  • Rinse all components thoroughly before reassembly.
  • Do not wash the filter with soap.

4.2 Filter Replacement

The PUR filter is certified to last for up to 40 gallons or approximately 2 months of regular use. The filter indicator light on the lid will signal when it's time for a replacement.

  1. Monitor indicator light: The filter indicator light will change color or flash to indicate the filter life status. Refer to the specific light sequence in your product packaging for details.
  2. Remove old filter: Carefully remove the old filter from the filter housing.
  3. Prepare new filter: Follow the filter preparation steps (Section 2.2) for the new PUR filter.
