1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your new Shanling EC3 Compact CD Player. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper functionality and to maximize your listening experience.

3. Setup

3.1 Power Connection

Connect the power cable to the Power Input port on the rear panel of the EC3. Plug the other end into a suitable power outlet. Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before connecting.

3.2 Audio Connections

Depending on your audio system, connect the EC3 using one of the following methods:

• RCA Analog Out: Use RCA cables to connect to your amplifier or receiver's analog input.
• Optical Digital Out: Use an optical cable to connect to a digital input on your DAC or amplifier.
• Coaxial Digital Out: Use a coaxial cable to connect to a digital input on your DAC or amplifier.
• Headphone Output: Connect your headphones to the 3.5mm or 4.4mm headphone jacks on the front panel.

3.3 Inserting a CD

Gently open the top cover of the CD player. Place a CD onto the spindle, ensuring it is seated correctly. Close the cover firmly.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Playback

After connecting power and audio, switch the Power Switch to the ON position. The display will illuminate. Insert a CD as described in Section 3.3. The player will automatically begin reading the disc. Use the front panel buttons (Play/Pause, Previous Track, Next Track) to control playback.

4.2 Volume Control

Adjust the volume using the rotary knob on the front panel. The current volume level will be displayed on the screen.

4.3 Bluetooth Connectivity

The EC3 supports Bluetooth 5.0. To pair with a Bluetooth device, navigate to the Bluetooth settings on the EC3 (refer to the on-screen menu or app for specific steps). Select the EC3 from your device's Bluetooth list to establish a connection.

4.4 App Control

Download the dedicated Shanling control app from your device's app store. Once installed, open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your EC3 player. The app allows for comprehensive control over playback, settings, and other features.

4.5 USB Playback

Insert a USB drive containing audio files into the USB Drive Port on the front panel. The EC3 will detect the drive and allow you to browse and play your music files. Supported formats may vary; refer to the full specifications for details.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. For the CD lens, use a specialized CD lens cleaner if necessary, following its instructions carefully.

5.2 Disc Handling

Always handle CDs by their edges. Avoid touching the playing surface. Store CDs in their cases to prevent scratches and dust accumulation.

5.3 Environmental Conditions

Avoid exposing the EC3 to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 No Power

• Check if the power cable is securely connected to both the EC3 and the power outlet.
• Ensure the power switch on the rear panel is in the ON position.
• Verify the power outlet is functional.

6.2 No Sound

• Confirm that the correct audio output (RCA, Optical, Coaxial, Headphone) is selected on your connected amplifier/DAC.
• Check all audio cables for secure connections.
• Ensure the volume on the EC3 and your connected audio system is not set to minimum or muted.
• If using Bluetooth, ensure the EC3 is correctly paired and connected to your device.

6.3 CD Not Playing / Skipping

• Ensure the CD is clean and free of scratches or smudges. Clean the disc with a soft, lint-free cloth if necessary.
• Verify the CD is inserted correctly onto the spindle.
• Try a different CD to determine if the issue is with the disc or the player.
• Ensure the player is on a stable, flat surface to prevent skipping.
