2. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance of your HOTATA 3109 Smart Lock. Please follow these steps carefully. A screwdriver is the only tool required for installation.
2.1 Latch Installation
- Adjust the length of the latch to align the lock bolt hole with the center of the door hole. The latch is engraved with an "UP" symbol; ensure it faces upwards.
- Insert the latch into the side door hole and tighten the screws.

2.2 Exterior Keypad Installation
- Ensure the key is pulled out from the exterior keypad before installation.
- Route the cable through the door below the bolt and push the keypad onto the door.
2.3 Interior Mounting Plate and Unit Installation
- Connect the wires for the outer lock and the inner lock.
- Align the mounting plate and pretighten the screws, then fully tighten them.
- For left-opening doors, position the interior lock knob horizontally during installation. For right-opening doors, position the interior lock knob vertically.
- Tighten the screw to secure the interior unit.
2.4 Testing the Latch
Insert the key and test the latch. If there is an abnormality in the extension and retraction of the latch, it may be due to incorrect installation of the lock lever or inner knob direction, or incorrect L/R setting. 3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Unlock Methods
The HOTATA 3109 Smart Lock offers four ways to unlock your door:
- Keypad Unlock: Enter your programmed passcode on the touchscreen keypad.
- IC Card Unlock: Tap the provided IC card against the keypad's card reader area.
- Key Unlock: Use the traditional physical key as a backup or primary method.
- App Unlock: Use the dedicated mobile application via Bluetooth to unlock the door.

3.2 Locking Features
- One-Touch Locking (Exterior): Press and hold the lock button on the exterior keypad for 2 seconds to engage the deadbolt.
- Interior Lock/Unlock Button: Use the manual turn knob or button on the interior unit to lock or unlock the door.
- Auto-Lock: The lock can be configured to automatically lock after a set period.

3.3 Access Management
- Shared Storage Capacity: The smart lock can accommodate up to 1000 user codes and IC cards, allowing flexible access for family, tenants, delivery personnel, and more.
- Real-time Access Logs: Monitor door access records directly from the app, providing a clear overview of who enters and exits your home.
- Temporary Passcodes: Generate temporary passcodes for guests or service providers, which can be set to expire after a specific duration.

4. Maintenance
4.1 Battery Installation
The HOTATA 3109 Smart Lock requires 4 AA batteries (not included). Ensure batteries are installed correctly according to polarity markings. Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the keypad or app.
4.2 Emergency Charging
In case of complete battery depletion, the lock features an emergency Type-C charging port located on the exterior keypad. Connect a Type-C cable to a power source to temporarily power the lock and gain access.
5. Troubleshooting
- Latch not extending/retracting properly: Verify the L/R setting on the interior unit matches your door's opening direction. Recheck the installation of the lock lever and ensure it's not binding.
- Keypad unresponsive: Check battery levels and replace if necessary. Ensure the battery cover is securely installed.
- IC card not working: Ensure the IC card is properly registered. Try re-registering the card if issues persist.
- Incorrect passcode entry: Ensure you are entering the correct passcode followed by the appropriate confirmation key (e.g., #).
- Lock malfunctioning (e.g., self-opening/closing): This could indicate an installation issue or a defect. Re-verify all installation steps, especially the L/R setting and cable connections. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
