Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for extending the life of your Keurig brewer and ensuring the best taste for your beverages. The 3-Month Brewer Maintenance Kit provides essential supplies for this.

Descaling Your Brewer

Descaling removes mineral buildup that can affect brewer performance and coffee taste. It is recommended to descale your brewer every 3 months or when the descale indicator light illuminates.

  1. Prepare Descaling Solution: Pour the entire bottle of Keurig Descaling Solution into the empty water reservoir.
  2. Fill with Water: Fill the empty descaling solution bottle with water and pour it into the reservoir. Do not use a K-Cup pod.
  3. Perform Descaling Brews: Place a large mug on the drip tray. Lift and lower the handle. Select the largest brew size and press the brew button. Repeat this process until the "ADD WATER" light illuminates.
  4. Soak: Let the brewer stand for at least 30 minutes while it is still powered on.
  5. Rinse Brews: After soaking, discard any remaining solution from the reservoir and rinse it thoroughly. Fill the reservoir with fresh water. Perform at least 12 cleansing brews using the largest brew size, refilling the reservoir as needed, until the descaling solution is completely rinsed out.

Replacing Water Filter Cartridges

Replace your water filter cartridge every 2 months or 60 tank refills to ensure optimal water quality.

  1. Prepare Filter: Soak a new water filter cartridge in fresh water for 5 minutes.
  2. Insert Filter: Rinse the filter holder. Insert the new filter into the lower part of the filter holder. Snap the upper part of the filter holder over the filter.
  3. Place in Reservoir: Place the assembled filter holder into the water reservoir, ensuring it is seated properly.

Using Keurig Rinse Pods

Rinse Pods help reduce flavor carry-over between brews and clean the K-Cup pod holder. Use them weekly or after brewing flavored beverages.

  1. Insert Rinse Pod: Place a large mug on the drip tray. Insert a Keurig Rinse Pod into the K-Cup pod holder, just like a regular K-Cup pod.
  2. Brew: Lower the handle and select the 8 oz brew size. Press the brew button.
  3. Discard: Once brewing is complete, remove and discard the Rinse Pod.
  4. Final Rinse: Perform one more 8 oz water-only brew to rinse the brewer.
