2. Product Overview

The NOVICE84 is a 75% layout mechanical keyboard kit designed for customization. It features a hot-swappable PCB, allowing for easy installation and removal of 3-pin or 5-pin mechanical switches without soldering. The keyboard supports three connection modes: wired (Type-C), 2.4G wireless, and Bluetooth, offering versatile connectivity options. It is powered by two AAA batteries for wireless operation and includes a noise-absorbing foam layer for an enhanced typing experience.

3.2 Installing Keycaps

3.3 Battery Installation

For wireless operation, the keyboard requires two AAA batteries. The battery compartment is located on the underside of the keyboard.

1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the keyboard.
2. Gently slide or lift the cover to open the compartment.
3. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.4 Connecting the Keyboard

The NOVICE84 supports three connection modes:

3.4.1 Wired Mode (USB Type-C)

• Connect the provided USB Type-C cable to the keyboard's port and the other end to your computer.
• The keyboard will automatically switch to wired mode. White backlight is active in this mode.

3.4.2 2.4G Wireless Mode

• Locate the 2.4G USB dongle, usually stored in the battery compartment.
• Plug the USB dongle into an available USB port on your computer.
• Switch the keyboard to 2.4G mode using the designated switch (refer to keyboard layout for exact location).
• The keyboard should connect automatically.

3.4.3 Bluetooth Mode

• Switch the keyboard to Bluetooth mode using the designated switch.
• On your computer or device, enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
• Select "NOVICE84" (or similar name) from the list of available devices to pair.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Switching Connection Modes

Use the physical switch on the keyboard (typically on the side or back) to toggle between Wired (Type-C), 2.4G, and Bluetooth modes. Ensure the correct mode is selected for your desired connection type.

4.2 Backlight Control

The NOVICE84 features a white backlight. Please note that the backlight function is only available when the keyboard is connected in Wired (Type-C) mode. In 2.4G wireless and Bluetooth modes, the backlight will not activate to conserve battery power.
