5. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to connect your MANAYO PM5 Phono Preamp to your audio system:

  1. Connect Turntable to Preamp: Connect the RCA output cables from your turntable to the INPUT (R/L) ports on the rear of the PM5 preamp. Ensure the red cable connects to the 'R' (right) input and the white/black cable connects to the 'L' (left) input.
  2. Connect Ground Wire: If your turntable has a ground wire, connect it to the GND terminal on the PM5 preamp. This helps eliminate hum and noise.
  3. Connect Preamp to Amplifier/Speakers: Connect the OUTPUT (R/L) ports on the rear of the PM5 preamp to the RCA input (e.g., 'Aux In', 'Line In') on your amplifier, receiver, or powered speakers. Match red to 'R' and white/black to 'L'.
  4. Connect Power: Plug the 12V 1A power adapter into the DC 12V 1A port on the rear of the PM5 preamp, then plug the adapter into a wall outlet.

  1. Power On: Flip the POWER switch on the front panel to the 'ON' position. The power indicator LED will light up.
  2. Adjust Gain: Use the GAIN knob to adjust the input sensitivity. This allows you to match the output level of your turntable cartridge to the preamp, optimizing signal-to-noise ratio. Start with a lower gain setting and gradually increase it until you achieve a clear, strong signal without distortion. The adjustable range is +6dB to +36dB.
  3. Adjust Volume: Use the VOLUME knob to control the overall output level of the preamp. Adjust this to your desired listening volume.
  4. Headphone Use: For private listening, plug your 3.5mm headphones into the Headphone Jack on the front panel. The headphone output is controlled by the VOLUME knob.
