About Eco-Drive Technology

Your Citizen Eco-Drive watch is powered by light, eliminating the need for battery replacement. It converts any light source, natural or artificial, into electrical energy, which is stored in a permanently rechargeable power cell. This innovative technology ensures continuous operation and contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing battery waste.

The Eco-Drive technology harnesses light to power the watch, eliminating the need for traditional battery replacements. This system stores energy in a rechargeable cell, ensuring reliable and environmentally friendly operation.

Setup and Initial Charge

Upon receiving your watch, it may be in a low power state. To ensure optimal performance, expose the watch dial to a bright light source for several hours. Direct sunlight is most effective, but artificial light can also be used. Avoid extreme heat.

Setting the Time and Date:

  1. Pull out the crown: Gently pull the crown (the knob on the side of the watch) out to the first or second click position, depending on whether you are setting the date or time.
  2. Adjust the date: If applicable, rotate the crown to set the date.
  3. Adjust the time: Rotate the crown to set the hour and minute hands. For chronograph models, ensure the 12/24 hour sub-dial is also correctly set.
  4. Push in the crown: Once set, push the crown back into its normal position to start the watch.

Maintenance and Care

Proper care will ensure the longevity and performance of your Citizen Eco-Drive watch.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the watch regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For stainless steel bands, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry one.
  • Water Resistance: Your watch is water resistant to 100 meters (10 ATM). This makes it suitable for showering, swimming, and snorkeling. Avoid operating the crown or pushers while the watch is wet.
  • Temperature: Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, as this can affect its performance and battery life.
  • Storage: When not in use, store your watch in a place where it can be exposed to light to maintain its charge. Avoid storing it in dark places for extended periods.
  • Service: For any repairs or battery cell checks, it is recommended to contact an authorized Citizen service center.
