- Pole Extension: Connect the upper pole sections to the main pole. Ensure all connections are tight.
- Height Adjustment Mechanism: Install the grip-and-pull height adjustment mechanism. This system uses double lifting springs to assist with height changes.
- Net Installation: Attach the anti-tear net to the rim.
- Base Filling: Fill the base with either 15.3 gallons of water or 145 lbs of sand to ensure maximum stability. An extra weight bag is included and can be filled with an additional 110 lbs of sand for enhanced stability.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Height Adjustment
The GYMAX basketball hoop features a Grip-and-Pull adjustable system, allowing for 10 different height settings from 4.6 ft to 10 ft (floor to rim).
- To Adjust Height: Grip the adjusting handle firmly. This will disengage the locking mechanism.
- Move the backboard and rim assembly up or down to the desired height. Double lifting springs assist in this movement.
- Release the handle to lock the system securely in place at the chosen height.
- For lower heights (4.6 ft - 6.6 ft), the middle pole section can be removed. For standard heights (8 ft - 10 ft), all pole sections should be installed.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your basketball hoop.
- Check Connections: Periodically inspect all bolts, nuts, and connections for tightness. Tighten any loose fasteners.
- Base Content: If using water in the base, check for leaks and refill as necessary. If using sand, ensure the base remains full and stable.
- Cleaning: Clean the backboard and pole with a mild soap and water solution. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish.
- Net Inspection: Inspect the net for any tears or damage. Replace if necessary to maintain playability.
- Weather Protection: While the Q195 metal tube is rustproof, prolonged exposure to extreme weather conditions may affect other components. Consider covering the unit or storing it indoors during harsh weather.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your GYMAX basketball hoop, refer to the following common solutions:
- Unit Instability: Ensure the base is completely filled with the recommended amount of water (15.3 gallons) or sand (145 lbs). If an extra weight bag is used, ensure it is filled with 110 lbs of sand and properly secured. Verify the hoop is on a level surface.
- Difficulty Adjusting Height: Check that the Grip-and-Pull handle is fully engaged or disengaged as intended. Ensure the double lifting springs are correctly installed and not obstructed. Lubricate moving parts if necessary.
- Loose Components: Re-check all bolts, nuts, and connections throughout the entire structure. Tighten any loose fasteners using appropriate tools.
- Damaged Net/Rim: Inspect the net and rim for any signs of wear or damage. Replace damaged parts immediately to ensure safe play.
