1. Product Overview

2. Setup and Assembly
Your Shark LA455 vacuum requires minimal assembly before first use. Ensure all components are present and undamaged upon unboxing.
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging.
- Attach Pod to Floor Nozzle: Align the pod with the floor nozzle and slide it down until it clicks securely into place.
- Insert Wand into Pod: Insert the extension wand into the top of the pod until it clicks.
- Attach Handle to Wand: Slide the handle onto the top of the extension wand until it clicks.
- Connect Hose: Connect the hose to the back of the vacuum pod by pushing it in until it clicks.
- Store Accessories: Attach any included accessories to the on-board storage posts.
Once assembled, ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a grounded outlet before operation.
3. Operating Instructions
The Shark LA455 offers versatile cleaning modes for different surfaces.
Power and Surface Settings:
The power switch is located on the top of the pod. It has three settings:
- OFF: Turns the vacuum off.
- Setting 1 (Hard Floor): Provides gentle cleaning for hard floors. The brushrolls spin slowly.
- Setting 2 (Carpet): Provides powerful deep cleaning for carpets. The brushrolls spin faster.
An indicator light on the floor nozzle will illuminate green when the brushroll is active and working correctly.
Using Lift-Away Mode:
For portable cleaning, detach the pod from the floor nozzle:
- Step on the red "Lift-Away" pedal located on the side of the floor nozzle.
- Pull the pod upwards to detach it from the floor nozzle.
- To use the wand for extended reach, press the gray "Wand Release" button on the top of the pod and pull the wand out.
- Attach desired cleaning accessories (e.g., crevice tool, pet power brush) to the end of the wand or directly to the handle.

Swivel Steering:
The advanced swivel steering allows for easy navigation around furniture and obstacles. Simply twist the handle to steer the vacuum in the desired direction.
4. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance of your Shark LA455 vacuum.
Emptying the Dust Cup:
Empty the dust cup after each use or when debris reaches the MAX FILL line.
- Ensure the vacuum is unplugged.
- Press the gray "Dust Cup Release" button on the side of the pod and lift the dust cup away.
- Hold the dust cup over a trash bin. Press the bottom release latch to open the bottom flap and empty debris.
- If necessary, press the top release latch to open the top flap for thorough cleaning.
- Close both flaps securely before placing the dust cup back onto the pod.
Cleaning Filters:
The Shark LA455 features washable filters. Rinse filters with cold water only and allow them to air-dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinstalling.
- Pre-Motor Filters (Foam & Felt): Located inside the dust cup. Rinse every 3 months.
- Post-Motor HEPA Filter: Located at the base of the vacuum. Rinse once a year.
Self-Cleaning Brushroll:
The self-cleaning brushroll is designed to prevent hair wrap. If any debris or hair remains, carefully remove it using scissors or by hand while the vacuum is unplugged.

- Ensure the floor nozzle is properly attached to the main unit.
