JacobsParts 3-Key LED Controller (Model LED-DIMMER-16) User Manual

For RGB LED Light Strips with Fixed Color Selection, Dimming, and Color Changing Effects

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your JacobsParts 3-Key LED Controller. This controller is designed for use with 12V or 24V RGB LED light strips, offering a range of fixed colors, dimming capabilities, and dynamic color-changing effects. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure proper function and safety.

2. Safety Guidelines

  • Ensure the power supply voltage matches the controller's input voltage (12-24V DC).
  • Do not exceed the maximum output power of the controller (12V 6A/72W, 24V 6A/144W).
  • Disconnect power before making any electrical connections or performing maintenance.
  • Avoid exposing the controller to moisture or extreme temperatures.
  • This device is intended for indoor use unless otherwise specified.
  • Consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about any wiring procedures.

3. Product Overview

The JacobsParts 3-Key LED Controller is a compact device designed to manage RGB LED light strips. It features three intuitive buttons for controlling color, brightness, and dynamic effects.

4. Installation and Wiring

Follow these steps to correctly install and wire your LED controller:

  1. Prepare Wires: The controller comes with stripped and tinned wires suitable for direct soldering or connection via terminal blocks (not included).
  2. Connect DC Input: Connect the red wire from the controller's input side to the positive (+) terminal of your 12V or 24V DC power supply. Connect the black wire to the negative (-) terminal. Ensure correct polarity.
  3. Connect LED Output: Connect the controller's output wires to your RGB LED light strip. The black wire is typically for common positive (+), and the red, green, and blue wires correspond to their respective color channels. Match the wires from the controller to the corresponding inputs on your LED strip (e.g., controller's red to strip's red, controller's green to strip's green, controller's blue to strip's blue, controller's black to strip's common positive).
  4. Secure Connections: Ensure all connections are secure and insulated to prevent short circuits.
  5. Apply Power: Once all connections are verified, connect your power supply to the main power source.

8. Troubleshooting

  • LEDs not lighting up:
    • Check all wiring connections for correct polarity and secure contact.
    • Ensure the power supply is functioning and providing the correct voltage (12V or 24V DC).
    • Verify the LED strip itself is functional.
    • Confirm the controller is turned on (long press the SPEED button).
  • Incorrect colors or flickering:
    • Check the connections between the controller output and the LED strip for proper color channel matching (Red to Red, Green to Green, Blue to Blue, Common Positive to Common Positive).
    • Ensure the power supply is adequate for the length and type of LED strip used.
  • Controller unresponsive:
    • Disconnect and reconnect power to reset the controller.
    • Ensure the input voltage is within the specified range (12-24V DC).

9. Maintenance

The JacobsParts 3-Key LED Controller requires minimal maintenance. Keep the unit clean and free from dust. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the controller is not exposed to excessive heat or moisture, which can damage internal components.
