3. Setup and Adjustments
Setting the Time
- Pull the crown out to the third position (farthest out).
- Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands until the correct time is displayed. Ensure the AM/PM is correctly set if your watch has a 24-hour indicator or if the date changes at midnight.
- Push the crown back into the first position (normal operating position) to start the watch.
Setting the Date
- Pull the crown out to the second position (one click out).
- Rotate the crown to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this may interfere with the automatic date change mechanism.
- Push the crown back into the first position.
Setting the GMT Hand and Bezel
The GMT hand (green) tracks a second time zone using a 24-hour format. The rotating bezel can be used to quickly reference a third time zone.
- To set the GMT hand, pull the crown out to the second position. Rotate the crown in the opposite direction used for setting the date. The GMT hand will move independently. Set it to the desired 24-hour time for your second time zone.
- Push the crown back into the first position.
- To use the rotating bezel for a third time zone, rotate the bezel so that the desired 24-hour mark aligns with the current time in that third zone, as indicated by the GMT hand.
4. Operation
Water Resistance
Your Timex Waterbury watch is water resistant up to 100 meters (330 feet). This rating makes it suitable for showering, swimming, and snorkeling. It is not recommended for scuba diving. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before exposing the watch to water. Do not operate the crown while the watch is wet or submerged.
5. Maintenance
Care and Cleaning
- Clean your watch regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
- For water-resistant models, a damp cloth can be used, followed by drying.
- Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or strong magnetic fields.
- The tan leather strap should be kept dry and clean to prolong its life. Avoid contact with water, oils, and cosmetics.
Battery Information
This watch is powered by one Lithium Ion battery. When the battery needs replacement, it is recommended to have it replaced by a qualified watch technician to ensure the water resistance seal is maintained.
6. Troubleshooting
- Watch Not Running: Ensure the crown is fully pushed in. If the watch still does not run, the battery may need replacement.
- Date Not Changing: Check if the time is set correctly for AM/PM. The date typically changes around midnight. If the issue persists, try resetting the date manually.
- Water Inside Watch: If condensation or water appears inside the watch, immediately take it to a service center. This indicates a compromised water resistance seal.
