4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Unpacking
- Carefully remove the scale from its packaging.
- Check for any visible damage. If damaged, contact your supplier immediately.
- Ensure all components listed in Section 3 are present.
4.2 Placement
- Place the scale on a firm, stable, and level surface.
- Avoid locations with excessive vibration, drafts, or rapid temperature changes.
- Ensure adequate space around the scale for operation and ventilation.
4.3 Leveling the Scale
- Locate the bubble level indicator, usually found near the front or side of the scale.
- Adjust the four adjustable feet by turning them clockwise or counter-clockwise until the bubble is centered within the indicator circle.
- Proper leveling is crucial for accurate weighing.
4.4 Power Connection
- Connect the AC adapter to the power input port on the scale.
- Plug the AC adapter into a suitable power outlet.
- The scale may perform a self-test upon initial power-up.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Basic Weighing and Price Computing
- Turn on the scale using the power switch. Allow it to stabilize and display "0.00" in the Weight window.
- Place the item to be weighed on the center of the stainless steel platter. The Weight display will show the item's weight.
- Using the numeric keypad, enter the unit price (e.g., for $1.50/lb, enter "150"). The Unit Price display will show the entered value.
- The Total Price display will automatically calculate and show the total cost (Weight x Unit Price).
- Remove the item from the platter. The display should return to "0.00".
5.2 Tare Function
The Tare function allows you to subtract the weight of a container, so only the net weight of the product is measured.
- Place the empty container on the weighing platter. The Weight display will show the container's weight.
- Press the TARE key. The Weight display will reset to "0.00", and the tare indicator will illuminate.
- Place the product into the container. The Weight display will now show only the net weight of the product.
- To clear the tare, remove the container and product, then press the TARE key again, or turn the scale off and on.
5.3 Zero Function
The Zero function is used to reset the scale to zero when there is a small amount of residual weight on the platter or if the display drifts slightly.
- Ensure the platter is empty.
- If the display shows a small non-zero value, press the ZERO key. The display will reset to "0.00".
5.4 Price Look-Up (PLU) Function
The scale supports up to 999 Price Look-Up (PLU) codes for frequently sold items, allowing for quick recall of unit prices.
5.4.1 Storing a PLU
- Enter the desired unit price using the numeric keypad.
- Press the SAVE key.
- Enter a PLU number (e.g., "001" to "999").
- Press SAVE again to confirm. The unit price is now stored under that PLU number.
5.4.2 Recalling a PLU
- Place the item on the platter.
- Press the MR (Memory Recall) key.
- Enter the desired PLU number.
- Press MR again. The stored unit price will appear, and the total price will be calculated.
5.5 Pre-Pack Function
The Pre-Pack function allows for efficient pricing of pre-packaged items by weight.
- Place the pre-packaged item on the platter.
- Enter the unit price.
- Press the PRINT key (if connected to a printer) or note the total price.
- Remove the item.
6. Maintenance and Care
6.1 Cleaning
- Always disconnect the power before cleaning.
- Wipe the scale body and stainless steel platter with a soft, damp cloth.
- Use a mild detergent if necessary. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals.
- Do not allow liquids to enter the scale's interior.
- Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
