Introduction
This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of your WAC Lighting Patriot 3in LED Square Recessed Light. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and retain it for future reference.
Important Safety Information
- WARNING: Risk of electric shock. Disconnect power at the fuse or circuit breaker before installation or servicing.
- WARNING: Risk of fire. Use only with specified dimmers.
- Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code and local codes.
- Ensure the supply voltage is compatible with the fixture (120V-277V).
- Do not modify the fixture. Any modifications may void the warranty and create safety hazards.
- Suitable for Dry, Damp, and Wet Locations.
- IC-Rated for contact with insulation.

Setup and Installation
The Patriot recessed light is designed for both remodel and new construction applications. An optional frame-in kit (R3H-FRAME) is sold separately for new construction when pre-framing is required.
Required Tools (Not Included):
- Wire strippers
- Screwdriver
- Measuring tape
- Hole saw (for ceiling cutout)
Installation Steps:
- Turn Off Power: Ensure power to the installation area is disconnected at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
- Prepare Ceiling Cutout: Create a 4.13-inch (approximately 10.5 cm) diameter cutout in the ceiling. The fixture is suitable for ceiling thicknesses between 0.5 inches and 1.5 inches.
- Connect Wiring:
- Open the junction box cover.
- Connect the building's supply wires to the fixture's wires using appropriate wire connectors (not included). Connect live to live, neutral to neutral, and ground to ground.
- Secure all connections and close the junction box cover.
- Select Color Temperature (CCT): Before inserting the junction box into the ceiling, locate the 5-CCT selectable switch inside the electrical box. Choose your desired color temperature (2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, or 5000K) by sliding the switch. This can also be adjusted after installation if the junction box remains accessible.

- Insert Junction Box: Carefully push the connected junction box through the ceiling cutout.
- Install Light Fixture:
- Connect the light fixture cable to the junction box cable.
- Gently push the light fixture into the ceiling cutout. The retention clips will secure the light engine into place.

- Restore Power: Once the fixture is securely installed, restore power at the circuit breaker.
Beam Spread Lens Replacement:
The fixture comes with a 45-degree flood beam spread lens installed. An additional 25-degree narrow beam spread lens is included. To replace:
- Gently remove the existing lens from the fixture.
- Insert the desired lens into the fixture, ensuring it is seated correctly.
Operating Instructions
Power On/Off:
The light operates via a standard wall switch connected to the circuit. Flip the switch to turn the light on or off.
Color Temperature Selection (CCT):
The Patriot light features a 5-CCT selectable switch located inside the electrical junction box. This switch allows you to choose from five color temperatures:
- 2700K (Warm)
- 3000K (Warm White)
- 3500K (White)
- 4000K (Cool White)
- 5000K (Natural White)
To change the CCT, access the junction box and slide the switch to the desired setting. This adjustment can be made before, during, or after installation, provided the junction box is accessible.
Dimming:
This fixture is designed for smooth and continuous dimming with compatible electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmers. When using an ELV dimmer, the light dims down to 10%. With TRIAC dimmers, it dims down to 5%. Ensure your dimmer is compatible with LED fixtures.
Maintenance
The WAC Lighting Patriot LED Recessed Light requires minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Disconnect power before cleaning. Wipe the fixture with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the finish or electrical components.
- LEDs: The integrated LED module is designed for long life (50,000 rated hours) and is not user-replaceable.
