5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

To clean your Magic Keyboard, first turn it off using the power switch. Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to gently wipe the keys and surfaces. Avoid excessive moisture and do not spray cleaners directly onto the keyboard.

5.2 Storage

When not in use for extended periods, turn off the keyboard to conserve battery life. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Keyboard Not Connecting

  • Ensure the keyboard is turned on and charged.
  • Check your Mac's Bluetooth settings to confirm it's enabled and the keyboard is listed. If it's listed but not connected, try removing it and re-pairing.
  • Restart your Mac and try connecting again.

6.2 Touch ID Not Working

  • Ensure your Mac is an Apple Silicon model (M1, M2, M3, M4, etc.) as Touch ID on this keyboard is only compatible with these models.
  • Verify your fingerprint is correctly registered in System Settings > Touch ID & Password.
  • Ensure your finger is clean and dry when using Touch ID.
  • For some actions (e.g., cold boot login), a password may still be required.
