1. Safety Information

3. Setup

The Shangyoyi 2-in-1 Bench Vise offers two installation methods: fixed mounting to a workbench or temporary clamp-on mounting.

3.1 Fixed Mounting (Permanent Installation)

  1. Position the vise on your workbench at the desired location.
  2. Mark the locations for drilling holes through the base of the vise.
  3. Drill appropriate pilot holes into the workbench.
  4. Secure the vise to the workbench using suitable bolts, washers, and nuts (not included). Ensure all fasteners are tightened securely.

3.2 Clamp-On Mounting (Temporary Installation)

  1. Ensure the workbench or table edge is clean and free of obstructions.
  2. Attach the clamp mechanism to the vise body.
  3. Position the vise on the edge of your workbench or table.
  4. Turn the clamp handle clockwise to tighten the vise securely to the surface. Ensure the clamp foot makes full contact and the vise is stable before use.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Securing a Workpiece

  1. Turn the vise handle counter-clockwise to open the jaws to a width slightly larger than your workpiece.
  2. Place the workpiece between the jaws.
  3. Turn the vise handle clockwise to close the jaws until the workpiece is held firmly. Do not overtighten.

4.2 Using the 360° Swivel Base

  1. Loosen the rotating adjustable lever located at the base of the vise.
  2. Rotate the vise body to the desired angle.
  3. Tighten the rotating adjustable lever firmly to secure the vise in position.

4.3 Using Protective Jaw Covers

The vise includes rubber jaw covers to protect delicate materials from marring or damage. Simply place these covers over the metal jaws before clamping your workpiece.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Shangyoyi Bench Vise.

  • Cleaning: After each use, clean the vise to remove any debris, dust, or metal shavings. Use a brush or compressed air.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a light coat of machine oil or grease to the main screw and guide rails to ensure smooth operation.
  • Inspection: Regularly check all bolts and fasteners for tightness. Inspect the jaws and body for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage. Replace worn or damaged parts immediately.
  • Storage: Store the vise in a dry environment to prevent rust.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Jaws are difficult to open/close:
    Solution: Apply lubricant to the main screw and guide rails. Check for any debris obstructing the movement.
  • Vise feels unstable when clamped:
    Solution: Ensure the clamp handle is fully tightened. Verify that the workbench or table surface is sturdy and the clamp foot has full contact.
  • Workpiece slips in jaws:
    Solution: Ensure the jaws are clean and free of oil or grease. Use the protective rubber jaw covers for delicate or slippery materials. Ensure the workpiece is properly seated and the jaws are tightened sufficiently.
  • Loose components or excessive play:
    Solution: Inspect all bolts and fasteners. Tighten any loose connections. If a bolt hole appears stripped or damaged, professional repair or replacement may be necessary.
