1. Introduction

2. Safety Instructions

5. Setup

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the case. Verify that all items listed in the "Scope of Delivery" section are present and undamaged.
2. Attaching the Auxiliary Handle: The auxiliary handle (as shown in Figure 1) provides additional stability and control. Securely attach it to the clamping collar of the drill. Ensure it is tightened firmly to prevent rotation during operation.
3. Mounting the Core Bit: Select the appropriate diamond core bit for your application. Screw the core bit securely onto the tool holder (1 1/4" UNC or 1/2" i). Use the provided open-end wrench (SW 32/41) if necessary to ensure a tight fit.
4. Using a Drill Stand (Recommended for larger diameters): For precise drilling, especially with larger diameters (e.g., above 82mm or for 202mm in masonry), it is highly recommended to use a suitable drill stand.

   Attach the drill to the stand according to the stand manufacturer's instructions. Ensure the stand is firmly anchored to the drilling surface (e.g., with vacuum or mechanical anchors) to prevent movement during operation.

5. Power Connection: Connect the drill to a suitable 230V power outlet. Ensure the power supply matches the tool's requirements.

6. Operating Instructions

1. Preparation:
   • Mark the exact drilling location on the workpiece.
   • Ensure the area behind the drilling surface is clear of electrical cables, pipes, or other obstructions.
   • If using a drill stand, position the core bit precisely over the marked center.
2. Starting the Drill:
   • Hold the drill firmly with both hands (or ensure it's securely mounted on a stand).
   • Press the power switch to start the drill. The EDMC PRO system will monitor motor performance.
3. Drilling Process (Dry Drilling):
   • Apply steady, even pressure. Do not force the drill. The soft impact function will assist in breaking down hard materials.
   • Allow the diamond core bit to do the work. Excessive pressure can lead to overheating and premature wear of the core bit and tool.
   • For manual drilling, maintain a firm grip and ensure stable footing.
   • Monitor the EDMC PRO overload display. If an overload warning appears, reduce pressure.
   • Periodically withdraw the core bit slightly to allow dust to escape and for cooling.

4. Finishing the Drill:
   • Once the desired depth is reached, switch off the drill and wait for the core bit to stop rotating completely.
   • Carefully withdraw the drill and core bit from the hole.
   • Remove the drilled core from the core bit.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Eibenstock ESD 162.

• Cleaning: After each use, clean the tool thoroughly. Remove dust and debris from the ventilation slots and housing using a brush or compressed air. Do not use water or solvents.
• Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord for any signs of damage (cuts, fraying). Check the auxiliary handle and clamping mechanisms for tightness.
• Carbon Brushes: The carbon brushes are wear parts. If the motor performance decreases significantly or sparks become excessive, have the carbon brushes checked and replaced by a qualified service technician.
• Storage: Store the drill in its original case in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children.
