1. Introduction and Overview

The HORI Split Pad Compact is an ergonomic controller designed to enhance the handheld gaming experience for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch OLED Model consoles. 3. Setup Instructions

1. Prepare Your Nintendo Switch: Ensure your Nintendo Switch console is powered off or in sleep mode before attaching the Split Pad Compact.
2. Remove Existing Joy-Cons: If Joy-Cons are currently attached, slide them upwards until they click and detach from the console.
3. Attach the Split Pad Compact: Align the left Split Pad Compact unit with the left rail of your Nintendo Switch console. Slide it downwards along the rail until you hear a click, indicating it is securely attached. Repeat this process for the right Split Pad Compact unit on the right rail.
4. Power On: Power on your Nintendo Switch. The console should automatically recognize the Split Pad Compact.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Controls

The button layout of the Split Pad Compact mirrors that of standard Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons, providing familiar controls for gaming. The left unit features a D-pad, left analog stick, and various system buttons. The right unit includes A/B/X/Y face buttons, a right analog stick, and additional system buttons.

4.2 Assignable Rear Triggers

Each Split Pad Compact unit features an assignable rear trigger (FL for the left unit, FR for the right unit). These buttons can be programmed to replicate the input of other buttons on the same controller unit.

1. To Assign: Press and hold the ASSIGN button on the desired controller unit. While holding ASSIGN, press the rear trigger (FL or FR) you wish to program, then press the button you want to assign to it (e.g., A, B, X, Y, L, R, ZL, ZR, D-pad directions, or analog stick clicks). Release all buttons. The rear trigger is now programmed.
2. To Clear: Press and hold the ASSIGN button, then press the rear trigger you wish to clear. Release both buttons. The assignment will be cleared.

4.3 Turbo Functionality

The Turbo function allows a button to be repeatedly pressed as long as it is held down, or to toggle continuous rapid-fire without holding the button.

1. To Activate Turbo: Press and hold the TURBO button, then press the button you wish to apply Turbo to (e.g., A, B, X, Y, L, R, ZL, ZR, D-pad directions, or analog stick clicks). Release both buttons. Now, holding the assigned button will activate rapid-fire.
2. To Activate Turbo Hold: Repeat the above step. Then, press and hold the TURBO button again, and press the same assigned button. Release both buttons. The button will now continuously rapid-fire without being held down. Press the button once to stop.
3. To Clear Turbo: Press and hold the TURBO button, then press the button with Turbo activated twice. Release both buttons. The Turbo function for that button will be cleared.

4.4 Important Operational Notes

• The HORI Split Pad Compact operates exclusively in handheld mode. It does not function wirelessly when detached from the Nintendo Switch console.
• This controller does not include Motion Controls, HD Rumble, NFC, or IR camera functionality. Games requiring these features may not be fully compatible or playable with the Split Pad Compact.

5. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the controller. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, ensuring no moisture enters any openings. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Storage: Store the Split Pad Compact in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. When not in use, it is recommended to keep it attached to the Nintendo Switch console or in a protective case to prevent dust accumulation and accidental damage.
• Avoid Drops: Protect the controller from drops or impacts, as this can damage internal components or affect button responsiveness.

• Controller Not Recognized: Ensure both Split Pad Compact units are fully slid down and clicked into place on the Nintendo Switch console's rails. If the issue persists, try detaching and reattaching them. Restarting the Nintendo Switch console may also resolve the issue.
• Buttons Not Responding: Verify that the controller is securely attached. If specific buttons are not responding, check if they have been assigned or have Turbo functionality enabled, and try resetting these settings.
• No Motion Controls/HD Rumble: Please note that the HORI Split Pad Compact does not support motion controls, HD Rumble, NFC, or IR camera functions. This is a design specification and not a malfunction.
