Figure 5.2: The speed control dial, offering 5 variable settings for different materials.
- Rotate the speed control dial to select the appropriate speed. Lower speeds are suitable for harder materials or intricate cuts, while higher speeds are for softer materials and faster cutting.
5.3 Oscillation Control (Pendulum Function)
The 4-step oscillation function allows the blade to move in an elliptical motion, increasing cutting speed, especially in wood.

Figure 5.3: The oscillation mode selector, offering 4 settings for varied cutting performance.
- Setting 0 (No Oscillation): For fine, precise cuts in wood, plastic, and metal.
- Settings 1-3 (Increasing Oscillation): For faster, rougher cuts in wood and softer materials. Higher settings provide more aggressive cutting.
5.4 Cutting Techniques
Always ensure the workpiece is securely clamped.

Figure 5.4: Proper grip and positioning of the jigsaw during operation on a wooden workpiece.

Figure 5.5: Top-down view of the jigsaw in use, demonstrating control and visibility of the cutting line.

Figure 5.6: Close-up of the jigsaw blade making a cut in wood, highlighting the cutting action.
- Straight Cuts: Guide the jigsaw along a marked line, keeping the base plate flat on the workpiece.
- Curve Cuts: Use a narrower blade and apply steady, even pressure, allowing the blade to follow the curve.
- Plunge Cuts: For internal cuts without a pilot hole, tilt the tool forward so the front edge of the base plate rests on the workpiece. Start the tool, then slowly lower the blade into the material. This technique requires caution.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your jigsaw. Always unplug the tool before performing any maintenance.
- Cleaning: Keep the ventilation openings clear and clean. Regularly remove sawdust and debris from the base plate and blade area using a brush or compressed air.
- Blade Replacement: Replace dull or damaged blades promptly. Refer to section 4.1 for blade installation.
- Carbon Brushes: The tool includes a set of carbon brushes. Inspect them periodically for wear. Replace both brushes when one is worn down to approximately 1/4 inch (6mm). Refer to the specific instructions in the full manual for brush replacement.
- Cord Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord for damage. If damaged, have it repaired by a qualified technician.
