Setup
1. Unfolding the Gimbal
The ZHIYUN Smooth Q4 is designed for portability. Gently unfold the gimbal from its compact state by rotating the arms until they lock into position.
2. Attaching the Tripod
For stable shots or hands-free operation, screw the included tripod onto the 1/4-inch thread at the bottom of the gimbal handle.
3. Mounting Your Smartphone
Open the phone clamp and carefully insert your smartphone. Ensure the phone is centered and securely held to maintain balance and prevent damage to the gimbal motors. The phone's camera should generally be on the left side when facing the gimbal.
4. Powering On
Press and hold the power button located on the side of the handle until the indicator lights illuminate. The gimbal will automatically initialize and balance.
Operating the Gimbal
1. Control Wheel
The multi-functional control wheel on the handle allows for precise adjustments. Press the wheel to adjust fill light brightness (if attached) and slide it to adjust the focal length (zoom) within the ZY Cami app.
2. Magnetic Fill Light (Combo Model)
Attach the magnetic fill light to the top of the phone clamp. Press the control wheel to adjust its brightness. The fill light offers 5500K standard color temperature and adjustable brightness levels. Color filters are also provided for creative lighting effects.
3. Extension Rod
The gimbal features a built-in 215mm extendable rod. Pull it up to extend and adjust the angle for various shooting perspectives, including wider shots and higher angles.
4. Switching Gimbal Modes
Press the 'MODE' button to cycle through different stabilization modes: Pan Follow (PF), Lock (L), Follow (F), and Point of View (POV). Each mode offers a unique way to control the gimbal's movement.
5. Landscape and Portrait Mode
Triple-click the trigger button (usually located on the front of the handle) to quickly switch your smartphone's orientation between landscape and portrait modes, ideal for different content formats.
6. ZY Cami App Integration
Download the ZY Cami app from your smartphone's app store. Connect the gimbal via Bluetooth to unlock intelligent shooting modes, gesture control, smart follow, and other advanced features for enhanced video creation.
