Key Features:

  • Eco-Drive Technology: Powered by any light source, never requiring a battery change.
  • Chronograph: 1/5 second chronograph measures up to 60 minutes.
  • Time Functions: Displays 12/24 hour time and date.
  • Construction: Silver-tone stainless steel case and bracelet, mineral crystal.
  • Water Resistance: 100 meters (10 BAR).

Setup

1. Initial Charging

Your Eco-Drive watch requires light exposure to operate. For initial charging or after prolonged storage in darkness, expose the watch face to direct sunlight for approximately 1.5 days, or bright indoor fluorescent light for several days, to achieve a full charge. A full charge can sustain the watch for up to 6 months in complete darkness. For daily operation, approximately 9 minutes of direct sunlight per day is sufficient.

2. Setting the Time and Date

  1. Pull the Crown: Gently pull the crown (the knob on the side of the watch) out to the second click position. The second hand will stop.
  2. Set the Time: Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands to the desired time. Ensure the 12/24 hour sub-dial (if present) is correctly aligned for AM/PM.
  3. Set the Date: Push the crown in to the first click position. Rotate the crown to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 1 AM, as this can interfere with the automatic date change mechanism.
  4. Synchronize: Once the time and date are set, push the crown back in to the normal position. The second hand will resume movement.

Operating the Chronograph

The chronograph function allows for precise measurement of elapsed time.

  1. Start: Press the upper pusher (button) to start the chronograph. The large sweep second hand will begin to move, and the chronograph minute sub-dial will track minutes.
  2. Stop: Press the upper pusher again to stop the chronograph. The elapsed time will be indicated by the chronograph second hand and minute sub-dial.
  3. Reset: After stopping, press the lower pusher to reset the chronograph. The chronograph hands will return to their zero positions.
  4. Split Time: Some chronographs allow for split time measurement. Refer to the detailed movement guide on the Citizen website for advanced functions specific to your caliber.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Wipe the watch case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt and moisture. For stainless steel, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

Water Resistance (100M / 10 BAR)

Your watch is water resistant to 100 meters (10 BAR), making it suitable for swimming, showering, and snorkeling. It is not designed for scuba diving. Ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water. Do not operate the pushers or crown while the watch is wet or submerged, as this can compromise the water resistance.

Eco-Drive Care

To maintain optimal performance, avoid storing your Eco-Drive watch in complete darkness for extended periods. Regular exposure to light, even ambient room light, will keep it charged. If the watch stops, expose it to bright light to restart and recharge.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch Not Running: Ensure the watch has been sufficiently exposed to light for charging. If it has been stored in darkness, place it under bright light for several hours or days.
  • Incorrect Time/Date: Refer to the "Setting the Time and Date" section to re-adjust.
  • Chronograph Hands Not Resetting to Zero: This may require a chronograph zero-position adjustment. Consult the full instruction manual on the Citizen website or contact customer support.
  • Condensation Inside Crystal: If condensation appears under the crystal, it may indicate a breach in water resistance. Seek professional service immediately.
