Setup

Initial Charge

Your Eco-Drive watch is powered by light. Before initial use, or if the watch has stopped, ensure it receives sufficient light exposure to charge the internal power cell. Place the watch in direct sunlight or under bright artificial light for several hours. A full charge can last for months, even in the dark.

Setting Time and Date

  1. Pull out the crown: Gently pull the crown (the knob on the side of the watch) out to the first or second click position. Refer to your specific model's detailed user guide for exact crown positions.
  2. Set the time: Rotate the crown to move the hands clockwise until the desired time is set. Ensure to account for AM/PM if your watch has a 24-hour indicator or date change.
  3. Set the date: If applicable, rotate the crown in the opposite direction (or use the first click position) to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 1 AM, as this can damage the movement.
  4. Push in the crown: Once time and date are set, push the crown back into its normal position to start the watch.

Operating Your Watch

Timekeeping

Your Citizen Eco-Drive watch is designed for accurate timekeeping. The hour, minute, and second hands move continuously, powered by the light-generated energy stored in the power cell.

Date Display

The watch features a date display window. The date automatically advances once every 24 hours. You may need to manually adjust the date at the end of months with fewer than 31 days (February, April, June, September, November).

Water Resistance

This watch is water resistant to 100 meters (10 BAR). This means it is suitable for everyday use, showering, swimming, and snorkeling. It is not suitable for high-impact water sports or scuba diving. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before exposing the watch to water.

Maintenance

Charging Guidelines

To maintain optimal performance, expose your Eco-Drive watch to light regularly. Avoid prolonged storage in dark places. While the watch can run for months on a full charge, consistent exposure to light will ensure it remains fully powered. Do not place the watch on a windowsill in direct sunlight for extended periods, as extreme temperatures can damage the movement.

Cleaning

Wipe the watch case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt and moisture. For stainless steel parts, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using chemical cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the finish.
