5. Setup and Installation

No wiring is required for the Minoston MP31ZD. Simply plug it into a standard wall outlet and connect it to your Z-Wave hub.

5.1 Pairing with a Z-Wave Hub

The MP31ZD supports SmartStart for easy pairing and can also be added manually.

Method 1: SmartStart (Recommended)

  1. Ensure your Z-Wave hub supports SmartStart.
  2. Open your Z-Wave hub's mobile application and select the option to add a new device or scan a QR code.
  3. Scan the QR code located on the Minoston MP31ZD device or its packaging.
  4. The device should automatically pair with your hub. Follow any on-screen prompts in your hub's application.

Method 2: Manual Inclusion

  1. Plug the Minoston MP31ZD into a wall outlet.
  2. Put your Z-Wave hub into inclusion (pairing) mode. Refer to your hub's manual for specific instructions.
  3. Quickly press the program button on the side of the MP31ZD three (3) times.
  4. The LED indicator on the plug will flash to confirm inclusion mode.
  5. If prompted by your hub, enter the Device Specific Key (DSK) or PIN code found on the device or packaging.
  6. The hub will confirm successful pairing.

Note: This Z-Wave dimmer plug is compatible with Z-Wave hubs such as SmartThings, Vera, Wink, Fibaro, Homeseer, Ring, 2GIG, and Hubitat (may require changing device type). It requires a Z-Wave certified hub for compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It cannot connect directly with Echo Plus.

6. Operating Instructions

Once paired with your Z-Wave hub, the Minoston MP31ZD offers various control options.

6.1 Manual Control

The program button on the side of the device can be used for basic on/off control. A single press will toggle the connected light between on and off states.

6.2 Remote Control and Dimming

Use your Z-Wave hub's mobile application to control the connected light. You can turn it on/off and adjust the brightness from 1% to 100%.
