  2. Plug the other end of the car charger into your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket.
  3. The dash cam will automatically power on and begin recording when the vehicle's engine starts.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off: The device powers on automatically with the car engine and powers off when the engine is turned off. You can also manually power it on/off by pressing and holding the Power button.
  • Recording: The dash cam starts recording automatically when powered on. A red indicator light will flash to indicate recording is in progress.
  • Menu/Mode: Press the Menu/Mode button to switch between video recording, photo mode, and playback mode. In recording or photo mode, press it to access settings.
  • Up/Down Buttons: Use these buttons to navigate through menu options or zoom in/out in photo mode.
  • OK Button: Confirms selections in the menu or starts/stops recording in video mode.

5.2 Loop Recording

The dash cam records video in segments (e.g., 1, 3, or 5 minutes). When the MicroSD card is full, the oldest unlocked files will be automatically overwritten by new recordings. This ensures continuous recording without manual intervention.

5.3 G-Sensor Function

The built-in G-sensor detects sudden acceleration, braking, or collisions. When such an event occurs, the current video segment is automatically locked and saved to a special folder, preventing it from being overwritten by loop recording. This ensures critical footage is preserved.

5.4 Motion Detection

When enabled, the motion detection feature allows the dash cam to automatically start recording if it detects movement in its field of view while the vehicle is parked and the dash cam is in standby mode. This provides an additional layer of security. Important: Do not enable motion detection while driving.

5.5 WDR (Wide Dynamic Range)

WDR technology optimizes video quality by balancing exposure in scenes with high contrast. This means that both bright and dark areas of the image are clearly visible, preventing overexposed highlights and underexposed shadows, especially useful in tunnels or strong backlight conditions.

Image 5.3: Examples of video quality with WDR enabled, showing improved clarity in both bright and dark areas, and clear night recording thanks to the F1.8 6-layer lens.

5.6 170° Wide Angle Lens

The 170-degree ultra-wide-angle lens captures a broader perspective of the road, reducing blind spots and providing more comprehensive coverage of events. This helps to capture more details of the surrounding environment.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera lens and screen. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • MicroSD Card: Format the MicroSD card regularly (e.g., once a month) to ensure optimal performance and prevent data corruption. This can usually be done through the dash cam's menu settings.
  • Temperature: Avoid exposing the dash cam to extreme temperatures, as this can affect battery life and device performance.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the AWESAFE official website periodically for any available firmware updates to improve performance and add new features.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Dash Cam not powering on: Ensure the car charger is properly connected to both the dash cam and the vehicle's power outlet. Check if the vehicle's cigarette lighter socket is functioning.
  • Recording stops unexpectedly: Ensure you are using a Class 10 or higher MicroSD card. Format the MicroSD card. If the issue persists, try a different MicroSD card.
  • Video quality is poor: Clean the camera lens. Ensure the protective film has been removed from the lens. Check the video resolution settings in the menu.
  • G-sensor is too sensitive/not sensitive enough: Adjust the G-sensor sensitivity setting in the menu.
  • Screen freezes or device is unresponsive: Use a thin object (like a paperclip) to press the reset button (located on the bottom of the device) to restart the dash cam.
