1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Beetel M71N Caller ID Phone. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper functionality and longevity.

2. Setup Guide

2.1 Unboxing and Components

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure the following items are present:

  • 1 x Base Unit
  • 1 x Handset
  • 1 x Coiled Handset Cord
  • 1 x Line Cord
  • User Manual (this document)

2.2 Battery Installation

The phone requires 3 AA batteries for the LCD display and memory functions. These batteries are not included and must be purchased separately.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the base unit.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert 3 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: Batteries are essential for maintaining time, date, and caller ID records during power outages or when the phone is disconnected from the line.

2.3 Connecting the Phone

  1. Connect one end of the coiled handset cord to the handset and the other end to the handset jack on the base unit.
  2. Connect one end of the line cord to the LINE jack on the base unit.
  3. Connect the other end of the line cord to your telephone wall jack.

2.4 Initial Settings (Date and Time)

After connecting the phone and installing batteries, the LCD display will activate. You may need to set the current date and time. Refer to the on-screen prompts or the detailed instructions below:

  1. Press the SET button.
  2. Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to navigate through settings (e.g., Year, Month, Day, Hour, Minute).
  3. Use the OUT/X or DEL buttons to adjust values.
  4. Press SET again to confirm each setting and move to the next.
  5. Once all settings are confirmed, the phone will return to standby mode.

Important: Ensure the date and time are set correctly for accurate Caller ID logging. If the date and time reset frequently, check battery condition or consult the troubleshooting section.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Making a Call

  1. Lift the handset or press the SPK (Speakerphone) button.
  2. Listen for a dial tone.
  3. Dial the desired telephone number using the keypad.
  4. To end the call, replace the handset or press the SPK button again.

3.2 Receiving a Call

When the phone rings:

  • Lift the handset to answer the call.
  • Alternatively, press the SPK button to answer in speakerphone mode.

3.3 Using Caller ID

The 16-digit LCD display shows the incoming caller's number (if available and subscribed to Caller ID service from your provider) before you answer.

  • Incoming call records are stored in the 30-Incoming Call Memory.
  • Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to scroll through past call records.
  • To dial a number from the Caller ID list, select the entry and lift the handset or press SPK.

3.4 Speakerphone Function

To use the speakerphone:

  • Press the SPK button to initiate or answer a call without lifting the handset.
  • During a call, press SPK to switch between handset and speakerphone mode.
  • Use the Volume Up/Down buttons (usually located near the speakerphone button) to adjust the speaker volume.

3.5 One-Touch Memory Dialing (M1-M8)

The phone features 8 one-touch memory buttons (M1-M8) for quick dialing of frequently used numbers.

To Store a Number:

  1. Lift the handset or press SPK.
  2. Press the STORE button.
  3. Dial the phone number you wish to save.
  4. Press STORE again.
  5. Press the desired memory button (M1-M8) to save the number.

To Dial a Stored Number:

  1. Lift the handset or press SPK.
  2. Press the desired memory button (M1-M8). The number will be dialed automatically.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

To clean your phone, use a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the phone's surface and electronic components. Ensure the phone is disconnected from the power source and telephone line before cleaning.

4.2 Battery Replacement

When the LCD display becomes dim or memory functions are inconsistent, it may be time to replace the AA batteries. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 2.2. Dispose of old batteries responsibly according to local regulations.
