2. Package Contents

3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Initial Setup

Before permanent installation, it is recommended to set up the console and outdoor sensor in close proximity to ensure they connect successfully.

  1. Power the Outdoor Sensor: Insert 3 AA Li-ion batteries (recommended, not included) into the outdoor sensor's battery compartment. Ensure correct polarity.
  2. Power the Main Console: Plug the provided power adapter into the console and a wall outlet. For backup, install 3 AAA alkaline or Li-ion batteries (not included) into the console's battery compartment.
  3. Sensor-Console Pairing: The console will automatically search for the outdoor sensor. Once connected, outdoor data will appear on the display. This may take a few minutes.

3.2 Outdoor Sensor Installation

Choose a location for the outdoor sensor that is open, free from obstructions, and allows for accurate wind, rain, and temperature measurements. The wireless transmission range is up to 100 meters (330 feet).

  1. Mounting Location: Select a high, open area, away from buildings, trees, and other obstacles that could interfere with wind, rain, or sunlight.
  2. Assemble the Sensor: Attach the outdoor sensor array to the mounting pole using the provided hardware.
  3. Leveling: Use the integrated bubble level on the sensor to ensure it is perfectly horizontal for accurate rain and wind measurements.
  4. Secure Installation: Mount the assembly securely using the mounting base and hardware. Ensure it can withstand strong winds.

3.3 Console Placement

Place the main console indoors in a location where you can easily view the display and where it is within range of the outdoor sensor.

4. Operation

4.1 Display Overview

The color display provides a clear overview of all measured data. Familiarize yourself with the different sections:

  • WEATHER / RAIN RATE: Current rainfall data.
  • GUST / AVERAGE: Wind gust and average wind speed.
  • OUTDOOR: Outdoor temperature and humidity.
  • MOON PHASE: Current moon phase.
  • PRESSURE: Barometric pressure.
  • FORECAST: 12-hour weather forecast icons.
  • DATE / TIME: Current date and time.
  • INDOOR: Indoor temperature and humidity.
  • DEW POINT / FEELS LIKE: Dew point or 'feels like' temperature.

4.2 Basic Operations

  • Adjustable Brightness: The display features adjustable brightness levels (low, mid, high) for comfortable viewing in various lighting conditions.
  • Alarms: Set customizable high/low alerts for various weather parameters.
  • Date/Time: The date format and display of dew point or 'feels like' temperature can be adjusted.

4.3 WiFi Connectivity and Online Services

The WF-100C Lite supports real-time data synchronization with popular weather services like Weathercloud and Wunderground.

  1. Connect to WiFi: Follow the on-screen instructions or refer to the detailed WiFi setup guide (usually available online) to connect your console to your home WiFi network.
  2. Register with Weather Services: Create an account on Weathercloud or Wunderground.
  3. Synchronize Data: Link your weather station to your online account. This allows you to track current data, view historical trends (up to 500 days), and analyze graphs from your mobile phone, PC, or tablet.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Outdoor Sensor

Regular cleaning ensures accurate readings, especially for the rain gauge and anemometer.

  • Rain Gauge: Periodically check and clean the rain collector funnel for debris (leaves, insects) that could block the tipping bucket mechanism.
  • Anemometer/Wind Vane: Ensure the wind cups and wind vane rotate freely. Remove any obstructions.
  • Radiation Shield: Keep the thermo-hygrometer radiation shield clean to prevent inaccurate temperature and humidity readings.

5.2 Battery Replacement

  • Outdoor Sensor: Replace the 3 AA batteries in the outdoor sensor when the low battery indicator appears on the console.
  • Main Console: Replace the 3 AAA backup batteries in the console as needed.

6. Troubleshooting
