Setup
- Battery Installation: Locate the battery compartment on the back of the main unit. Insert one AAA battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Probe Connection: Insert the stainless steel probe's connector firmly into the jack located on the side of the main unit. Ensure a secure connection for accurate readings.
- Placement Options: The TP16 offers multiple convenient placement options:
- Magnetic Back: Utilize the strong magnets on the back to attach the unit to a refrigerator, oven, or any metal surface.
- Tabletop Stand: Flip out the integrated stand on the back to place the unit upright on a countertop or table.
- Hanging Hole: Use the hanging hole to suspend the unit from a kitchen hook or lanyard.

Operating Instructions
- Power On/Off: Press the 'ON/OFF' button to turn the device on or off.
- Temperature Unit Selection: Use the '°C/°F' switch located on the back of the unit to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature displays.
- Preset Temperature Settings: The TP16 comes with USDA-recommended preset temperatures for various types of meat and doneness levels. Use the 'MEAT' button to cycle through options such as Poultry, Beef, Pork, Ham, and Fish. Use the 'TASTE' button to select desired doneness (e.g., Rare, Medium, Well).

- Custom Temperature Setting: To set a custom target temperature, press the 'MODE' button to enter 'COOK' mode. Use the 'UP' or 'DOWN' arrows to adjust the target temperature to your preference.
- Timer Mode: The device includes a versatile timer function. Press the 'MODE' button to switch to 'TIMER' mode. Use the 'HR' and 'MIN' buttons to set the desired countdown time. Press 'START/STOP' to begin or pause the timer. The timer can also function as a count-up timer by pressing 'START/STOP' without setting a time.

- Alarm Function: Once the internal temperature of your food reaches the set target temperature (either preset or custom), the TP16 will emit an audible alarm to notify you.
- Probe Usage: Insert the stainless steel probe into the thickest part of the meat, avoiding bones or gristle. The probe and its wire are designed to withstand high temperatures (up to 716°F / 380°C), allowing them to remain in the oven, grill, or smoker during cooking. Ensure the main unit remains outside the heat source.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the main unit clean with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water or place it in a dishwasher. The stainless steel probe can be cleaned with warm soapy water.
- Storage: Store the thermometer and probe in a dry place when not in use. Ensure the probe wire is not kinked or damaged during storage.
Troubleshooting
- Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the probe is inserted correctly into the thickest part of the meat, avoiding bones. Verify that the probe connector is fully seated in the main unit.
- Display Issues: If the display is dim or unresponsive, check the battery. Replace with a fresh AAA battery if necessary. Ensure the unit is not exposed to excessive moisture, as this can affect display functionality.
- Alarm Not Sounding: Confirm that the target temperature is set correctly and that the alarm volume is not muted (if applicable).
