Setup
Initial Charge
Your Eco-Drive watch is powered by light. Upon receiving your watch, it may be in a low charge state. To ensure proper operation, expose the watch face to a bright light source (natural sunlight is ideal) for several hours. Avoid placing the watch in direct sunlight for extended periods in extremely hot environments to prevent overheating.
Setting the Time and Date
- Pull out the crown: Gently pull the crown (the knob on the side of the watch) out to the first or second click position.
- Set the date: If the crown is at the first click, turn it clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 1 AM, as this can interfere with the automatic date change mechanism.
- Set the time: Pull the crown out to the second click position. Turn the crown to move the hands clockwise until the correct time is displayed. Ensure you differentiate between AM and PM when setting the time, especially for the date change.
- Push in the crown: Once the time and date are set, push the crown back in completely to the normal position. This will start the watch movement.
Adjusting the Bracelet
The stainless steel bracelet features a fold-over clasp with a push-button release. For optimal comfort, the bracelet may need to be adjusted by adding or removing links. It is recommended to have this adjustment performed by a professional jeweler or watch repair service to prevent damage to the bracelet.
Operating Instructions
Eco-Drive Power Generation
Your Citizen Eco-Drive watch converts light into electrical energy, which is stored in a power cell. For continuous operation, ensure the watch is regularly exposed to light. The watch will continue to operate for an extended period in darkness once fully charged, but consistent light exposure is recommended.
Water Resistance
This watch is water resistant up to 10 bars (100 meters / 330 feet). This makes it suitable for everyday use, showering, swimming, and snorkeling. Do not operate the crown or push buttons while the watch is wet or submerged in water.
- 10 Bar (100m): Suitable for swimming and snorkeling.
- Not suitable for: Scuba diving or high-impact water sports.
Maintenance
Cleaning Your Watch
To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe the case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using chemical cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the watch's finish.
Power Reserve Indicator (if applicable)
While this specific model does not feature a visible power reserve indicator, if the second hand begins to move in two-second intervals, it indicates a low power reserve. Immediately expose the watch to light to recharge it.
Storage
When storing your watch for extended periods, ensure it is exposed to light periodically to maintain its charge. Store it in a cool, dry place away from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, and strong magnetic fields.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Watch stops or second hand moves in two-second intervals. | Insufficient charge. | Expose the watch to bright light (natural sunlight or fluorescent light) for several hours until fully charged. |
| Date changes at noon instead of midnight. | AM/PM setting is incorrect. | Advance the time by 12 hours. Pull the crown to the second click and turn the hands forward until the date changes, then set the correct time. |
| Watch loses or gains time significantly. | Exposure to strong magnetic fields or internal issue. | Keep the watch away from strong magnetic sources (e.g., speakers, magnets). If the problem persists, contact Citizen customer support or an authorized service center. |
