4. Setup Guide
4.1. Installing Batteries
- Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the mouse.
- Slide the battery cover open.
- Insert the two (2) AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery cover securely.
4.2. Connecting the USB Receiver
- Remove the USB receiver from its storage slot on the underside of the mouse.
- Plug the USB receiver into an available USB port on your computer.
- Your computer should automatically detect and install the necessary drivers. This may take a few moments.
4.3. Powering On the Mouse
- Locate the On/Off switch on the underside of the mouse, near the optical sensor.
- Slide the switch to the "On" position.
- The mouse is now ready for use.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Basic Functions
- Left Click: Primary button for selecting items, opening links, etc.
- Right Click: Secondary button for context menus and additional options.
- Scroll Wheel: Scroll up or down through documents and web pages. The scroll wheel can also be pressed for middle-click functionality.
5.2. Advanced Buttons
The Targus Bluetrace mouse features 7 functional buttons. In addition to the standard left, right, and scroll wheel click, it includes:
- DPI Adjustment Button: Located near the scroll wheel, this button allows you to cycle through different DPI (Dots Per Inch) settings to adjust cursor sensitivity. Higher DPI means faster cursor movement.
- Side Buttons: Typically located on the thumb side of the mouse, these buttons are often pre-programmed for "Forward" and "Back" navigation in web browsers or file explorers. Their functions may be customizable through your operating system's mouse settings.

6. Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning Your Mouse
The Targus Bluetrace mouse features DefenseGuard Protection, which helps prevent the growth of microorganisms. To maintain cleanliness and functionality:
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution.
- Wipe the surface of the mouse gently.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or submerging the mouse in liquid.
- Ensure the mouse is completely dry before use.
6.2. Battery Replacement
When the low battery indicator illuminates or mouse performance degrades, it's time to replace the batteries. Follow the steps in Section 4.1 to replace the two (2) AA batteries.
