2. Initial Setup
2.1 Charging the Eco-Drive
Your Citizen Eco-Drive watch is powered by light and does not require a battery replacement. Upon receiving your watch, expose it to a bright light source (natural sunlight is ideal) for several hours to ensure it is fully charged. The watch will begin operating once it receives sufficient light. A full charge can last for several months in darkness.
- Sunlight: Place the watch near a window, ensuring it is not exposed to extreme heat.
- Indoor Light: For indoor charging, place the watch approximately 8 inches (20 cm) from a fluorescent lamp or 20 inches (50 cm) from an incandescent lamp.
2.2 Setting Time and Date
- Pull out the crown: Gently pull the crown (located on the side of the watch case) to the second click position.
- Set the time: Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands clockwise until the desired time is set. Ensure the AM/PM is correctly set by observing the date change around midnight.
- Set the date: Push the crown back to the first click position. Rotate the crown to adjust the date.
- Push in the crown: Once the time and date are set, push the crown back into the normal position to start the watch.

3. Operating the Watch
3.1 Rotating Bezel Functionality
The Promaster Dive watch features a unidirectional rotating bezel. This bezel is used to measure elapsed time, particularly useful for diving. To use it, align the triangle marker on the bezel with the minute hand at the start of your dive or activity. As time passes, the minute hand will indicate the elapsed time against the bezel's markings. The unidirectional design prevents accidental rotation in the wrong direction, which could lead to an overestimation of remaining air supply during a dive.
3.2 Water Resistance and Luminous Features
This watch is ISO compliant and water resistant to 200 meters (660 feet), making it suitable for professional marine activity and serious surface water sports, but not for saturation diving. The luminous hands and markers on the dial are designed to glow in low-light conditions, providing excellent readability underwater or in dark environments. Exposure to light will charge the luminous material.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning Your Watch
To maintain the appearance and functionality of your watch, regularly wipe the case and strap with a soft, dry cloth. For the polyurethane strap, a mild soap solution and water can be used, followed by thorough rinsing and drying. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
4.2 Eco-Drive Charging Best Practices
For optimal performance, ensure your Eco-Drive watch receives regular exposure to light. If stored in darkness for extended periods, it may enter a power-saving mode or stop completely. Re-expose to light to resume normal operation. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures.
4.3 Storage
When not wearing your watch, store it in a location where it can receive some ambient light to maintain its charge. If storing for an extended period, ensure it is fully charged before storage to prevent deep discharge.
